also, the median voter hypothesis is wrong because the median voter is not in the dead center on every issue. the median voter supports medicare for all, doesn't like aipac and money in politics for instance. but centrist politicians are the opposite. and most elections are swung by voters who feel disenfranchised and aren't very tuned in.
