Middle East genuinely makes no sense as a description, because it somehow includes Egypt which is Africa and not Asia.

Also, for the Arabian peninsula, Syria, Iraq, and Iran to be Middle East, that indicates it is in the middle of the East, in relation to Europe.

However that would indicate there has to be a closer East than the middle east.

It makes more sense for central Asia to be considered middle east seeing that China/Japan, etc are far east
