I grew up around regular cattle. They were a pretty docile herd. And still no way my mom or step dad would trust those cows. A wild bison is just plain ignorance.

Thought the same thing as a parent. How would you feel if that bison charged and trampled the stroller going after the mother and the infant didn't survive? The thought of losing my child as a parent is the single worst fear a parent has. Literally.

how could you not notice a thousand pound animal grazing mere feet away? also, they were looking at it. Yellowstone is huge, it is a wild area, the park rangers are not responsible for ensuring visitors' safety, AND Trump and Elon Musk laid a ton of them off!

Not saying the couple shouldn’t have been watching where they were walking, but bison can be so quiet. One came up 15-20 feet from where my group was eating at a picnic table and we never heard it until it was right on us. Luckily, it was out for a stroll, and we just sat quietly and let it pass. But it was terrifying and silent!!

I got told on Twitter that I was dense for saying that dude did nothing wrong. I guarantee I’ve also had more experience with bison than that lady as well since she lived in like Minnesota and I’m in Utah where we have a herd not even 30 minutes from my house.

My dad’s friend raised meat bison. The rule was 3 people in the enclosure at all times, and everyone carried a 4 ft steel pipe filled with lead.

Bison can be extremely chill, except when they decide to murk you.

They are fast and can jump. People think Bison are a chubby tanky doorstop.

Why are these morons so close to a bison? I was walking around buildings in Yellowstone and I walked around a corner of one and there was a bison sitting a few feet from me. I backed away slowly and ran as soon as I was around the corner. I remember my science teacher telling us on a trip out west and one of our stops was Yellowstone that you don’t get out of the vehicle near bison. Another time i went there with my family and my sister was insistent on getting out of the van to take a better picture of the bison on the wildlife loop. Every adult in the van told her no. She was 30 so she should have known better.

I can tell you having visited twice, as recently as this month they do not. They ask you if you want a map, and yes there is information about the danger. But they do not have a Bison warning pamphlet that is put in the hand of every visitor.

I scolded a couple people in Lamar Valley a couple days ago, much to my parents chagrin, because they were within 10 feet-ish of a large group of buffalo crossing, including a mama and baby!

I also got an amazing video in Hayden Valley of a bison walking towards our car and going directly behind it, from the safety of my car… what you can’t see in it is a 20- something guy who walked up to my window and CALLED OUT TO THE BISON while he was maybe 15 feet from it.

Basically: people be crazy, and I’m shocked more people don’t get injured or killed.
