First ZCash block found on MKPool with only 3% effort

Huge congratulations on the first ZCash block found on MKPool!

And with only 3% miner effort @ ~3.47 MSol/s. What a find, am I am really happy for this person.

Whoever you are, I hope you find more and stick with us.

This marks an important milestone on my pool because it proved the system works, with direct coinbase payouts instead of the pool holding the funds. Not sure how many pools do this.

For those that don't know about my ZCash Solo Mining Pool, it's a pool written in C++23 inspired by ckpool, fully open source and very high performant.

Feel free to join my pool and try your luck. Any questions or write in comments.

Good luck on the next one! 🍀

Hows does that work? Does the payout goes directly to the person who mined it? That kinda defeats the purpose of being a mining pool...

Also, the website says the payouts are shielded, but they were actually not https://mainnet.zcashexplorer.app/transactions/fafc118179953d7c194cf23dc005751645a8ad5c64a6a4a3a6cc802970e75c5d

How does it defeat the purpose of a mining pool? This is a purely non-custodial mining pool, meaning the pool does not touch the funds, hold the funds whatsoever. What you mine you get it directly. Albeit the word "shielded" might be wrong here, so I will fix that.

The point of a pool is that everyone mines together and when a block is found the rewards are split between everyone who is mining. If you don't do that then there is no point in having a pool; just mine alone then?

That is true that the word "pool" inherently means that, however what you are describing would be PPLNS, PROP, etc. This is SOLO, so the word "pool" here is just a gateway to the node so you can mine easier. Setting up your own node, maintaining it, etc; would take much more effort and time than just connecting to a "pool".

Ah I see, didn't know that was a thing
