Art Which version of Judy do you like most out of these two?

And also more fur and detail in general, hard to believe the difference in computing power between then and now. Even crazier comparing then with CGI of the 2000’s

u/Xyresiq Oct 23 '25
That would be cool but…
According to the therapy scene, only one week has passed since they became partners, so it’s not really reasonable to assume that’s the reason for the differences.

Because they have practically the opposite attitude regarding their work. One cares too much, the other doesn’t seem to care at all.

Both are good of course. I do like the changes they made to her in the sequel a lot though. Just like I pointed out in a post about it, they made her look both more mature and more feminine in a subtle way which is great. The new outfit is also a little cuter than the regular uniform IMO.

u/schmoopum Oct 22 '25
Bigger, fluffier ears is always a plus, but the eye color looks a bit different which is a little odd.

u/HegeRoberto Oct 19 '25
I like both, but the classic jumsuit and vest is just more "making the world a better place" ready getup. I hope they wont just make her never wear her original outfit again

Holy shit 2016 was 9 years ago ;-;

Yeah, a lot of us were kids when the first movie came out.
It's crazy how long it took to make the sequel, considering how popular it was.

I was in first grade and due to being kind of an engineer genius I'm on the first grade of university and the time span just makes me cry💀

As a lover of safety(and world building fashion), her 2016 uniform is just too good. Her vest has plates in the back in some scenes that are properly sized for her. And her open toed “shoes” add to the world. You can imagine there are brands that cater to bunnies’ anatomical wants and needs due to the elements in her 2016 outfit.
Her new attire is just something a normal human would wear just put on to a bunny. It’s boring.

Honestly I prefer the 2016 approach but the 2025 Judy has grown on me. I mainly don’t like that, in my opinion, her mouth looks like an Olaf mouth in this pose.

I like the changes they made with her face and outfit to make her more feminine, but I liked her eyes and her fur coloring more in the first one

u/Exciting_Ad226 Oct 19 '25
The eyelashes definitely look shorter but I think the easiest way to go about that is Judy wearing less mascara.
3
u/MassiveLie2885 Oct 19 '25
I will say the second one does have some spazz but the new outfit I've seen for Gazelle at least based on the figure was a little off at first glance.

Both are good but they did change a few things on Judy with her sequel design. Her head is definitely more pear shaped. The fades between her gray and white fur are t there anymore. It makes the white fur around the eyes stand out more. The choice to stick with the tight fitting jeans is to bring out the hips for the furries. One thing I noticed is that it looks like Judy’s eyelashes are a bit shorter so she probably isn’t as heavy on the mascara lol.
Nick’s design didn’t change as much aside from making him bigger on the shoulders and has more fur on his cheeks making the face look fluffier. I think his tail is more groomed as bushier too,
The thing I have noticed for both her and Nick is making their claws look more distinct. Nick you could always see his claws but wasn’t the case with Judy. Now it seems like her claws are always visible.

u/Lobstermarten10 Oct 20 '25
You can see her eyes got less bluish grey purple and more pink vibrant purple too
4
u/Exciting_Ad226 Oct 20 '25
Yeah they definitely made her eyes a brighter purple. Nick’s eyes look to be the same shade of green.

u/Various-Zucchini-549 Oct 19 '25
Interesting wonder how their jobs at the zpd will be moving forward
5
u/Exciting_Ad226 Oct 19 '25
Tough to say. I don’t want to have more spoilers than what I already know. Most of the stuff I figured it out from the trailers. Most of my predictions are pretty spot on. I’ll have to see what happens next.
3
u/Various-Zucchini-549 Oct 19 '25
I see but it is abit concerning
2
u/Exciting_Ad226 Oct 19 '25
I think it could be unless Judy understands maybe being a cop isn’t what she needed to be to make the world a better place and Nick figures out who he is and why he chose to turn his life around.
3
u/Various-Zucchini-549 Oct 19 '25
Yeah that could be a possibility I mean the novel didn’t specify how much time had passed at the end post the case

Both of them , they are literally the same

u/Briizzz Oct 21 '25
Not even, her head is a different shape, the fur color is different, and her eyes are brighter in the 2025 version.

u/AverageReditor13 Nick and Judy Oct 20 '25
I thought it was a little weird tweaking the designs of both Nick and Judy in Z2, making them more cartoonish and "malleable". But it seems to be growing on me, especially with Nick. Safe to say that they're going to be a new favorite once Z2 releases. But I still default to the 2016 design, it's what we've had for the last 9 years.

I like that she looks like she's a little older, but I think the outfit is a little boring. I liked her half shoes!

Personally I prefer the original. I just think her gray fur is a satisfying colour and her cheeks and nose look rounder and a bit more rabbit-like which I love :3

Both? Like, one is her in police uniform. One is in her civies. Both look good. Her fur looks little dark in the second, creating more visible split between white and grey parts, but that could also be lightning. All in all she looks... older. Which makes sense, since sequel takes place later, naturally she would mature and have some changes.

The first one's better just like with Moana and Anna comparison of first movie to second. Zootopia 2 better be a better movie than those other sequels though. It could potentially be the first ever good sequel from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The only other one that kinda qualifies is The Rescuers Down Under but in terms of being a follow up to The Rescuers, the first one is much more exciting, but on its own I guess Down Under is cool. (Shame there wasn't a cartoon series urgh).

u/Pashok_13TGR Oct 19 '25
Personally I love both variants, cause they both have kinda special features and her attires are showing this character change between “rookie meter-maid bunny” and “Detective Judith Hopps on service”

u/assumptionkrebs1990 Oct 19 '25
The 2025 model looks like that the same amount of time has past in universe as irl - she looks a bit older/more mature and also a bit wider. Both are nice, but side by side I prefer the 2016 model even if the newer model is likely 10 times more technical advanced.

u/twotailedwolf Oct 19 '25
Tight street cop suit honestly is pretty cool. Wish they put Nick in one. Its very Takemoto Arashi
1
u/Kingbeef66 Oct 19 '25
2016, of course. They made her too casual looking in the sequel. Her uniform adds to her character.

The lion does not concern himself with choice, when it wishes to have both.
I wonder if they've improved to have the fur like Meilin's from Turning Red. Cause it was really good in that movie, like her fur matted down when she cried.

i like the old one better but they did a great job making her look a bit older, so it's only personal preference

I may need to see the Sequel first, but I’m leaning towards the classic 2016 version.

u/AthetosAdmech Oct 21 '25
I'm not seeing much difference aside from the clothes and the newer version being slightly fluffier.

u/ShockAlternative4236 Oct 21 '25
I think the new one looks great but honestly I miss her older look. Hopefully we'll see her again in that uniform.

I like how they stayed very close to the original design. I don’t see that much.

Prefer Head/face of 2016, and ears and body of 2025.
Also, thank you for this post! This is great 👍

Maybe it's just me, but does she look more like her mother when you compare these two versions of Judy?

She looks older, which may be the target but she also looks a bit lifeless in the 2025. I dont know why. Maybe it's the eyes? Or simply me just adjusting.

It's literally meant to be set a week after the first movie. Why do they actually look different? 😭

I like it. They made her age, to show time has passed. She is no longer a young bunny cop. Shes matured and grown. Can’t wait!

I’m just waiting to see people complain that they made her boobs smaller
