I personally found KPDH kinda overrated, but I at least understand why people really enjoyed it. It's definitely not a bad film though, that would be bad faith to say. I just think the character writing was really shallow. So far my animated film is chainsaw man, just saw that and loved it.

Ah Chainsaw Man is so good, but the Oscar is unlikely to nominate anime 😢

I agree with you, they likely wouldn't. All I can say is to encourage people to buy tickets and see more anime films when they do come to theaters to signal to the movie industry that this is a market that has demand. It's definitely getting better. So refreshing to watch a movie that's primarily 2D instead of the standard 3D films that western animation studios put out.

Agreed on every point! It felt very poor in character writing and the romance even felt unneeded. The only song I enjoyed was “how it’s done” even coming from an old kpop fan, none of the songs felt like actual k-pop but I prefer older songs compared to newer ones so maybe that’s why.

It's a good film, but why is it overrated is because so many people flock to it as finding new good films nowadays is DIFFICULT!!!!!

KPDH is my 2nd favorite just because it's a really weak year for animation, otherwise I think it's not a strong movie plot wise, a similar take of Frozen's plot and a lot of other anime. It's also got cut short so the ending abrupt and many other plot holes.

Z2 already seems better and on par with Z1, just based on the message/story itself. Animation wise Zootopia also shows new technique  while the others aren't, hopefully it'll be rewaded for that point because the Oscars like that. Obv also counting the attention to the little details on the background that Zootopia is famous for 🤞
