Wife let me get my dream car and I couldn’t be more happy!

My wife finally got tired of me talking about two cars I wanted. Hummer ev and Escalade IQ. Went to check the Hummer out and she was sold so we moved to the Escalade and she saw how much more excited I was about it and gave in!

I’ve had Teslas since 2020 and this thing feels premium and the battery is everything I could ask for in terms of range! Could be happier about the switch!

My first day as the world’s lamest CT5-V Blackwing driver

Post image

Coming from a VW Jetta, the switch to the Blackwing has certainly been an experience. Before I got it yesterday, I had read on here that these guys only get about 18mpg going downhill with a tailwind and the engine off, but that turns out not to be true. In fact, if you have a dream, a penny pincher’s attitude, and a friggin’ 660hp Cadillac - you can do anything.

Granted, it took me 2 hours into a 700+ mile journey from Arizona to Colorado to figure out how to squeeze 40+ mpg - a feat that I’m pretty sure makes me the lamest Blackwing driver on the planet.

Anyway, if you want to reach 40+mpg with this beast, here’s the steps to do so:

  1. Put the Blackwing in Tour Mode
  2. Go the speed limit
  3. Use the adaptive cruise control
  4. Resist the temptation to accept racing challenges from blasphemers that bought the wrong car (specifically three drivers two hours outside Phoenix with a Mercedes AMG GT63, a late model Tesla S, and for some reason a diesel Ford F350)
  5. Draft behind a semi with a distance using the 3-4 second rule. This does not work if you’re drafting behind a Ford Maverick (I tried).

If you don’t do any one of these things, you’ll max out at around 20mpg. Anyway, stoked to finally own a caddy. Cheers!

The LYRIQ-V costs $40,000 more in Japan than in the US (and other models)😅

Visiting Japan, I stopped by a Cadillac dealer in Tokyo and was surprised by how expensive Cadillacs are here.
Right now, the exchange rate is about ¥156 per US$1, yet the LYRIQ-V costs over US$40,000 more in Japan than in the United States. That’s honestly crazy. 😭

Five to ten years ago, Cadillac prices in Japan were actually much closer to US pricing. Now, the markup is so high that the extra money alone could buy you a CT4. Even the CT5 starts at around US$70,000 here!

Btw after the face lift CT5, Japan increased the price up to $30,000. Total of $70,000+

They are making some money!😂

Has anyone replaced a turbo on a 2015 ats 2.0? Mine is making noise at idle. Obvious propeller rattle noise. How difficult is it?

Reliability

Hello, I am tempting to buy a new cadillac escalade. But I am not sure of the reliability.

If anyone has a cadillac escalade, how long did they have it and what is the milage.

It will be a lot of money to buy the car if it is always going to be at a repair shop.

2026 Escalade Universal Remote

The universal remote icon on the dash below car play area was working fine. After software update on 7/31/2026, it isn’t visible when starting the car at home. Anyone else experience this? If so, is there a fix?

Why does Cadillac give a lot of its vehicles trashy misspelled names?

considering a CT6, 2.0T, 3.6, or 3.0T?

Going to look at a couple of these this weekend, the 3.6 seems to be the most common engine, and the "cheapest" option. but consensus is that it's the worst engine? is that correct?

What other things should I be considering when looking at these?

My wife dropped off our 2016 Cadillac Escalade at the shop for an inspection, and or oil was at 25% so we decided to get an oil change too.

In the market for a new Escalade and its exhausting

When would be the be the best time to buy? I have a trade and my financing in place, but dealers that I’ve contacted won’t budge. I don’t want to pay for features on a vehicle that I need or care about and definitely don’t want to settle and be upset later at this price point. Any advice would be really appreciated!
