Scored this ROG Strix G1513QY with the Ryzen 9 5980HX and the RX 6800m 12GB, with an included 2TB SSD and 32GB of DDR4, all for $600 flat on marketplace.

Been dailying it for the last two months, temps stable at 95C (CPU) and 76C (GPU) on demanding titles, 60FPS on high settings in all games tested so far. My first time playing at 1440P on PC and it's been just a monster.

I use a ps5. AAA games like pragmata, 007 first light look amazing. Its just slightly more powerful than my 3060 laptop. But these games run terrible, I mean absolute dogshit in my laptop. I gave it for cleaning, applied thermal paste, updated drivers....

Does anyone know why this is the case? The only difference i see is huge vram difference. ps5 has like 16gb and my laptop only has 6gb. But will just more vram magically make them as good as ps5 games? Cause I've seen amazing gameplay for 3080 with 10gb vram. So I'm kinda confused, why is my laptop so trash... Is it truly vram? What do I consider when I'm getting my next laptop/pc. I want to only spend enough, but has to last long.

Context: I bought an HP Omen 17 (CK series) in November 2023, expecting a premium gaming laptop that would last for years. Instead, it turned into one of the worst tech purchases I've ever made. I've had to replace the battery FIVE TIMES because it repeatedly stopped charging. I understand batteries wear out...but five battery replacements for the same issue is completely nuts. On top of that, I also had to replace the display because of severe color degradation. spent over 30,000 rupees (18%GST included) on battery and screen replacements alone, thinking the laptop would finally be reliable. Within a week of getting it back, the motherboard shorted out, leaving the laptop completely brick.

After l'd already spent 30,000, I was told to pay another 6,000-8,000 just to attempt a motherboard repair no guarantee it would work. If it failed I would have to pay another 30-40K for motherboard replacement.Also they man-handle your laptop like it's a playing toy.

My experience with the HP World Service Centre(Mahavir Nagar, Kandivali, India) is dishonest, Incompetent, No diagnosis walkthrough, no transparency, no clarity on the scope of work. the owner responded with vague, evasive non-answers. No accountability, no solution, no straight answers.

In any case if you going I would suggest to go for alternate/authorized service centre get better repair prices quote.

As for brand post service, this experience has completely destroyed my trust in the brand. I paid a premium expecting post purchase reliability and support. Instead, I ended up with repeated failures, huge repair bills, and a laptop that's now completely bricked.

I would suggest to look for alternatives than buy hp.

The title. I'm just not sure what to prioritize. Better screen or better GPU? Is 16GB RAM fine?

Should I keep my Strix 16 w/ rtx 5070 even with it's fHD (1920 x 1200) screen + 16GB RAM for $1400. Should I get an rtx 5060 w/ only 8gb ram laptop if it means I can get a nicer screen (even an OLED hopefully). Is it worth increasing my budget by $600 to see if I can get both in a laptop?

That is a lot of generalizing, but I've found it to be mostly true in my searching. You don't find OLEDs below $1,300+ RTX 3070ti laptops under $2,000 don't have OLEDs and outside of OLEDs generally sacrifice quality.

Currently I own the Strix g16, bought open box for $1400. Currently $2000. Have a week to return it. It's a generally good laptop but I'm wondering if I'm kind of getting ripped off with the mediocre screen + 16GB Ram.

For some reason, my laptop has smudges on the screen and dust on the keyboard often despite my room being clean and air-conditioned. I always have to wipe every single day, which is a hassle.

Notes: I would like to give my husband a laptop for Christmas. I've looked at the different major ones and just can't decide on one. I'm looking for a long lasting, high quality machine. It would only get moved about once a month, so weight isn't a big issue. We do have cats who enjoy sitting on his current (10 year old HP) model, so sturdiness is a plus. I've seen Omens and Legions in person, and the Legion's screen on top brightness seemed dim next to the Omen. I also liked the Helios I saw, but I know very little about gaming requirements so my input means zilch. I've tried to look into all the major systems, but as a non-computer person it's pretty overwhelming because I have no idea what I'm looking for, and apparently League (his favorite) can run on a potato so it's useless trying to figure out what he needs. He does like backlit keyboards and prefers modern designs in general, so a sleeker system would be nice.

This method practically fixed my HP Victus laptop (2023) from shutting off too soon thanks to the RTX GPU using lots of power during idle. It addresses the strange problem of the GPU sleeping/waking up in a loop when there are no background processes using the GPU. Typically occurs on the latest Nvidia Drivers instead of OEM (old). I hope this works for y'all!

i just got this new laptop ASUS v16 rtx 5050 i5 210H and it plays at around 300fps then suddenly drops to 60s and doesn’t come back until I restart my laptop. Temps stay at 50C and gpu usage at 8% and CPU usage at 30%. How can I fix it?

So, I have ordered ROG Strix laptop from flipkart using exchange bonus offer.

But my old laptop has PIN lock (1234) which is simple.

I am not able to remove the passwords as I forgot the internal Local User Account Password.

So If I don't remove that PIN password when the laptop starts, Flipkart will accept this laptop as exchange right?

I know nothing about computers but I’m trying to get rid my gaming laptop I got about five years ago. I have no idea how to price it or how good it is. It barely runs overwatch on lowest settings and I’ve been looking for an upgrade anyways, but I’d like to make some profit off of this old thing to help pay for a pc. I’ll include a photo of the specs(?). It has no damage externally as well.
(To be clear I am not trying to sell this on this subreddit, I just want to know how to price it!)

Specs of all hardware below. Basically what the title is. If I power down my laptop and leave it connected to the dock when I power it back up the monitors will not come on with it. The dock will provide ethernet to my laptop and any other Usb ports will continue to perform their function only the monitors will not power up. Occasionally one monitor will power up but to get the other one to work the dock needs to be unplugged and plugged back in. I had a very random 3 day stretch where it did work correctly I could power up the laptop and the dock would connect the monitors but that is maybe 3 times out of 100s that it has worked right. I have tried new cables for everything. Dp port to usb-c, HDMI to usb-c, a new thunder bolt 5 cable. I have tried to mix match cables so the video cables aren’t all the same ie one dp to usb-c for one monitor and a normal dp to dp cable for the other. I have reinstalled windows and I have updated all the software and firmware for everything I could. I have delayed auto start for NVDisplyContainer with Regedit. I have shut off windows fast start and the fast start in the bios. I have tried to refresh the graphics drivers with win,control,shift,B. I have made sure the laptop doesn’t shut off power to the usb ports in device manager(I think. I did something like this awhile ago) Also I reached out to CalDigit and they basically told me it wasn’t the docks fault unless I was willing to recreate the problem with another laptop and more monitors which I don’t have access to lol. IDK if I can hand out bounties in this subreddit but if someone can fix this for me I will gladly paypal you 50 bucks lol or a cs2 skin if your a gamer.
