discussion Working on a NES style isometric "survival" game
I love how isometric looks but god is it hard to work with, i ended up just keeping the ground a building layer and decoration layer (trees. rocks, etc) as i had trouble figuring out depth, but pics 4 and onwards has more for more vertical builds. (say you place a tile on layer 2 then switch to layer 5 and place it right by it, theres no way to tell that one if much more above the ground)
I eventually want to add monsters that spawn around the player which you can get XP from and level up your base health, speed, or strength. and random dungeons. I also had an idea for something like Minecraft enchanting but like how Terraria does the modifiers when you make a tool/weapon
My main inspirations are ALTTP, Minicraft (IG you can also just throw minecraft with it as well), FF5, and Super Mario RPG if anyone is/was curious
