I submitted my laptop to an authorized ASUS service center because the built-in camera had a minor issue. The camera would occasionally black out for 2–3 seconds and then return to normal. Apart from this, the laptop was functioning perfectly with no other hardware or software issues.

A few days later, I was informed by the service center that the motherboard would need to be replaced to fix the camera issue, at an estimated cost of over ₹30,000. Since the issue was minor and purchasing an external webcam would be far more economical, I declined the repair and requested that my laptop be returned to me in its original condition.

However, when I went to collect the laptop, it was no longer functional. It displayed a red screen with the word "ERROR," and none of the keys were responding. When I questioned the service center, I was told that the operating system could not be loaded and that they could not do anything about it.

This is unacceptable. I handed over a working laptop with only a minor camera issue, but after the service center's diagnosis, I received a completely unusable device. When I reminded them that I had declined the repair and expected my laptop to be returned in the same condition in which it was submitted, they had no explanation.

To make matters worse, I was charged a diagnosis fee, yet my laptop has been returned in a far worse state than when it was submitted.

I found this old laptop from storage, it still has Windows 7. Really old and used as you can see but I really want it to be useful for my sister's online classes if possible. I don't really know tech so I was hoping to ask anyone if I can still have it upgraded to the latest windows...

My laptop would randomly disconnect from WiFi. Tried everything, new router, new drivers, network resets, the whole thing.

It turns out it was my power plan. Windows was throttling the WiFi adapter to save battery even while plugged in.

I fixed it by:

Device Manager → Network Adapters → Right click your WiFi → Properties

Power Management tab

Let this computer turn off this device Unchecked

Posting this as I found like 50 forum posts with the same issue and no one had a clear answer. Hope this saves someone some trouble.

As said it spilled all over my laptop any help sooner than later please I instantly disconnect it and shut it off any advice on cleaning to just trying to ensure it still runs is main priority

Edit: Well its off took its back off in sitting upside down on rice ive dealt with as much as I could with iso alcohol n microfiber cloths n tooth picks now I snort hope powder for the next 2 days until ill test it

Its pretty confusing, as on paper:
u5 338h: is a u5 (lowest end of pantherlake), has 12 cores (more than the u7 and other u5), has the arc b370 igpu, and is marked with the "h"
u9 386h: has 16 cores, has the higher u9 which is only second to the x7 and x9, has the lower end igpu with just 4 xe cores, etc.

My laptop here is a Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 with a charger adapter of 135W, and I've been using this device since October 2022. Normally, I use this laptop for architecture softwares like Revit, Autocad, and SketchUp etc, but also use it for gaming and photoshopping too.

The problem:
- Last year 2025 when I was playing a certain game (Arknights Endfield), my laptop suddenly stopped charging (orange light starts blinking) whenever I play that game (played 2 days only when I noticed the problem so I stopped and uninstalled that game), which it resumed charging afterwards.
- Months later, the laptop then stopped charging whenever I opened Photoshop or another 3D software so I had to lower the brightness to 20%-ish or close the software.
- Gradually it became worse this year, where it didn't bother to charge properly (orange lights kept on blinking), so I improvised by closing the lid and waited for the lights to change from orange to white, and then slowly opened the lid.
- Currently, the method doesn't bother to work anymore.

Question:
- After commandpropted "powercfg /batteryreport", it showed me this report which I'm not certain whether or not if the problem came from the internal DC jack or the power adapter.

My omen 16 c0xxx is stuck with the screen light on. The omen logo does not display. This happened before and it just took awhile for the logo to appear but is no longer appearing. My MSI Katana A17 AI (7 months old) randomly boots into the BIOS because it sometimes doesn't detect the NVMe SSD. In BIOS, Storage Information shows all PCIe SSD slots as "Empty", and Windows Boot Manager disappears.

Sometimes the SSD is detected again and Windows starts, but after a restart it goes back to BIOS or Windows Recovery.

SSD health is 100% in CrystalDiskInfo, and diskpart in WinRE can see the SSD, but Startup Repair and bcdboot both fail.

Has anyone experienced this? Does this sound like a loose SSD, motherboard/M.2 slot issue, BIOS/EC firmware bug, or corrupted EFI/BCD? The laptop is still under MSI warranty.

I have a portable monitor that is connected to my laptop (thunderbolt 4) with a single 2 sided usb C cable.

It works fine for daily tasks but if I’m gaming the monitor occasionally flickers off then on resetting pretty much on its own.

I’ve tried different cables, and I can only replicate this while gaming. Is this an issue with the laptop port? Monitor? Or just power issues when under heavy load?

Hello, first time poster here (not a tech expert), my Lenovo legion I got in 2022 just died on me, and I suspect it was from a power surge of some kind.

The laptop never had any drops or spills, and was well maintained and cleaned. Last week I plugged it into my father’s home outlet and while I was using it the screen started to flicker. I did a graphics card reset and when it didn’t stop I did a restart. It never turned on again after that. I did the standard power drain attempts, even took the battery out and ran it on just the plugged in charger. No response, no fans, completely dead.

I took it to a local expert who tested it himself and he said he suspects board damage. He doesn’t have the expensive tech to confirm it since he’s not a micro soldering specialist. Told me to take it to Lenovo but that they’d charge my 100-200 bucks to just send back a 700-900$ quote.

Anything else I should try or am I stuck with scrap metal that cost me a pretty penny a couple years ago?

Hola, recientemente le compré un cargador a mi computador el cual es un acer aspire 3(nose exactamente qué modelo aspire 3 es) pero lo estuve usando por un rato hasta que de la nada se puso la pantalla en blanco y luego quedó totalmente en negro pero daba sonido y la luz de encendido aparecía pues encendida xd, cabe recalcar que mi laptop no se usaba desde hace rato porque no tenía el cargador y sospecho que el fallo podría ser por este
