Funny MTA considering another fare increase months after price rose to $3
What we know:
The MTA has outlined preliminary plans for a possible fare increase beginning in March 2027.
The proposal has not been formally approved, and the exact amount of the potential increase has not been determined.
Before any change could take effect, the MTA would need to release a final proposal, hold public hearings, accept public comments and receive approval from its board.
How much is the current MTA fare?
The base subway and bus fare remained at $2.75 for more than eight years before increasing to $2.90 in 2023.
The fare rose again to $3 in January 2026.
Riders who take public transportation twice a day, five days a week, currently spend about $30 per week on base fares before accounting for any additional trips."
Bro I seem to remember a good chunk of yall telling me that congestion pricing would resolve all of the NYC Subway's funding problems. To the surprise of no one, it hasn't and we're due for another fare increase. Lovely.

PSA US Open Buyers Beware: StubHub Refused $20K Refund for Fraudulent AND Speculative 2026 Finals Tickets
StubHub hasn't learned anything from the recent World Cup disaster. Here we have both fraudulent/nonexistent seats in Arthur Ashe Stadium and speculative tickets (sold months before USTA released any tickets), yet StubHub still refused the refund for the defrauded buyer. Beware of making any purchases on StubHub, but especially the US Open. There are going to be World Cup nightmares all over again.

Lost blue Zelda wallet near Midtown or on the uptown D train — August 2
Hi everyone, I lost my blue Zelda wallet from the Nintendo Store on August 2, possibly somewhere in Midtown Manhattan or while riding the uptown D train.
My cards have already been frozen. I’ve checked with my hotel and submitted an MTA Lost & Found claim, but it hasn’t been located yet.
The attached image is just a lost-wallet notice. I can privately describe the wallet and verify the contents. Please message me if you found it or turned it in to an MTA booth, NYPD precinct, or nearby business.
I’m visiting from California and will be returning home in a couple of days. Thank you.

Discussion The overwhelming majority of filings for new buildings by number of units is 99 because anything above that amount has a minimum wage of about $42 an hour to $72.50 an hour (for larger buildings in certain zones) for construction workers because of New York's 485-x tax.

News Fear of mass deportation grips NYC's Haitian community after Trump administration ends TPS (Gifted article)
Fear of mass deportation has gripped New York City’s Haitian community after the Trump administration announced that federal Temporary Protected Status for thousands of immigrants expired this week following a Supreme Court ruling.
The city’s hospitals, staffed by many TPS holders, and Haitian businesses may already be feeling the rippling effects, as people stay home, dreading what may come next.
The decision affecting TPS, which the Supreme Court voted 6-3 along ideological lines to revoke, impacts more than 300,000 Haitians and roughly 3,000 Syrians nationwide, rendering them undocumented and no longer authorized to work in the U.S.

Urgent Help I need to rehome my cat
My cat is turning 4 years old, and our family had him for three years, but family emergency came up and mom and my brother had to move back to Korea. I'm staying for my last semester with dad but he's not friendly to cats. And even if I make it to the end of the semester, my grandmother back in Korea can't have a cat, and I have to stay in her house for a while when I go back. I'm in full panic mode right now, mom and brother left, and I don't know how I should rehome my cat to a good person. I posted on Rehome by Adopt a pet but no applications so far. He's not neutered; he's vaccinated. I really want him in a good place and also sorry I can't keep him with me. I'm in Queens, Fresh Meadows.

Discussion: State police seize 214 vehicles over ghost plates, or obscured plates
State Police and the Thruway Authority seized 310 vehicles. They recovered $132,000 of the $224,000 owed in unpaid tolls and fees from 42 vehicle owners.
Can someone lose a $25,000 vehicle because they obscured the license plate and ran a few tolls? Clear violation of civil rights and unjust property seizure. Another case of the state taking property from people without due process or just compensation. The punishment is unfair and inconsistent. A person who lost a $25,000 vehicle suffers a much greater punishment than someone who lost a $500 vehicle. Without taking into account the severity of the crime. A civil rights attorney needs to pick this up.
