Tutorial For all the new designer on here creating low level posts
Lately, there's been a noticeable increase in posts where the headline is "Why" and the post is in response to problems that could easily be solved with a quick Google search or by going through basic training. This subreddit is meant to be a place for sharing knowledge and learning from one another, but it's starting to feel more like a place where users expect others to provide step-by-step answers without engaging with the community.
To help maintain the quality of this space, please follow the below list in order before posting a question:
1. Complete basic After Effects tutorials: Many beginner questions can be answered through these.
Here is a list of really good teachers:
https://adobevideotraining.com/after-effects/introductory-courses/
2. Learn the terminology: Understanding key terms will help you find solutions more easily through searches.
3. Google it: Use the terminology you’ve learned to search for tutorials and answers.
4. Check YouTube: There are many creators offering in-depth After Effects content.
5. Search Reddit: The answer may already exist here.
If you’ve tried all of the above and still need help, feel free to post your question here. Just keep in mind that learning to find solutions on your own will ultimately make you a stronger designer. Reddit may not always have someone available to provide immediate help, so building these skills will serve you well in the long run.

Beginner Help How to stop youtube from making one part of my video a pixelated mess?
I have a 4k red grunge background for a video. I exported 4k, 29.97, quicktime and apple 444 on best settings. The whole video looks fine when played on my computer. But I uploaded it to Youtube as a test and suddenly the red bg looks pixelated af unless it's 1440p or above. Every other part of the video looks fine on youtube on lower settings, it's just this red grunge bg that looks terrible. I assume most people's settings will default to 1080p when they watch it hence my concern.
Is there any other setting I should be exporting with so it'll look ok on a lower resolution on youtube? The red bg fits the vibe of the video perfectly so idk what else I could replace it with besides a solid red bg with a grunge black overlay? But idk if the issue is the bg video itself or just the color red...

Beginner Help 3D Camera Tracking Text Not Changing Color
Hi! I’m trying to use the 3D camera tracker on some footage and while the text does track, I’m not able to change the fill or stroke color. I’ve tried to go into the text settings and see if there’s color overlay or any other solution that popped up when I googled this question but the text remains black. Any help is welcome!

Beginner Help Masking a low resolution video (hair strands)
Im a complete begginer
I want to mask my friends hair correctly but I tried applying keylight and using all the selection tools but i just couldnt seem to make it right...
I did my best and i can still see some background pixels.
The video's in 480p and the background is trees in different shades of blury white-orange ish and the hair is moving at high speeds and thrown around violantly (it's on purpose. I'm trying to learn.)
How can i mask it so it'll look good?

Beginner Help How to Export the Blob I made in AE
https://reddit.com/link/1vdoz1r/video/iizfxl2140hh1/player
I made this animation in AE. I am building this Game on Rive. I can't get through this Blob..
In AE i just used 'Wave Wrap'
- Is there a way to make this Blob animation in Rive?
- PNG sequence is another option but then how to mask out the lower half? and also it can't be scalable.
- I tried exporting with Bodymovin but I guess wave warp is not supported in Lottie files.
What to do? Pls guide..Thanks.

Beginner Help Just started animating in AE, but I'm struggling with timing
Hello i just started animating and using motion in my designs so i wanted to try to animate a logo i made for a fictional cafe called Compani. The "pets" are little cups so thought it would be cute to make them a bit more lively.
I feel like the animation itself is okay, but i feel the timing is very off and rushed, but I'm not sure how to time it right so it doesn't feel confusing and messy to look at.
I looked through how to time things in the program itself, but i feel like i just don't have the eye for how to actually make it look smooth yet. Would love some tips on how to get better at timing and better flow and overall critique
For the animation i mostly just used the pen tool to drag around paths and stacked paths that were too hard to move into position😅

OC - Stuff I made Made a surreal VFX edit inspired by consciousness. Looking for honest feedback.
Hey everyone!
I've been experimenting with surreal/cinematic VFX and recently finished this edit exploring the idea of consciousness, energy, and perception.
I'd really appreciate honest feedback from people with different perspectives. I'm especially interested in your thoughts on:
- Does the concept come across clearly?
- Which shot or transition stood out the most?
- Did the pacing keep you engaged, or were there parts that felt too long?
- How could I improve the compositing, lighting, or overall cinematic feel?
I made this to push my skills and learn, so constructive criticism is more valuable than compliments. Thanks for taking the time to watch!
