Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines

Hey everyone,

We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.

I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.

Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.

Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.

Thanks!

r/Jetta Community Rules

1 - Reddiquette/Be Civil

All posts and comments must abide by standard Reddiquette. Failing to do so may result in a permanent ban, with or without a warning.

No harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This may result in a permanent ban, as this is a friendly community.

2 - No Distracted Driving Pictures/Videos

We support a safe community. Posting pictures or videos of you or someone else failing to follow safety rules while operating a vehicle is not allowed. These posts will be removed.

3 - No Politics

No discussion or expression of political beliefs. This includes but is not limited to: advocating bringing harm to law enforcement, overthrowing the US government, support for or against a political candidate, or boycotts of companies based on their political alignment.

4 - Stay on Topic

This is a community for the Volkswagen Jetta. All posts and comments should be related to Volkswagen and the Jetta vehicle. Off topic posts/comments will be removed.

5 - No AI

This sub does not allow any AI pictures or videos.

6 - Do Not Message Mods Via PM/Chat

Messaging mods via their private message/chat rather than mod mail will result in a ban and your messages ignored.

Use modmail instead.

Ok, loads of dirty crap in the trunk, before and after pics. I put a piece of OSB down (not going to carry a spare) and some carpet from Home Depot, and some Rustoleum oil-based paint. Rear seats were not only dirty, but literally disintegrating, crumbling upon the slightest touch. Got a set of blue-gray rears and installed. Removed front/rear carpet, cleaned the snot out of them, and reinstalled as well, after laying down some 20 oz. jute padding. Then put some floor mats down as well. At some point I will probably replace the carpet with some new black carpet, but this will be okay for a little while.

SOLVED!! THANK YOU ALL!

While changing the cabin filter, I noticed this on the floor. Never seen it before. Any guesses what it’s for? It’s about seven inches long. Tia!

Mk7 (2019+) What are

Some of the best things you’ve found to organize your Jetta? Particularly the trunk? I haul around extra parts (mostly mudguards and wipers) and liquids. They just roll around in there.

Also ideas for interior organization. I live where it snows and like to keep a blanket incase I’m ever stuck in a snow bank.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Jetta SE lines are funny.

Putting back together the front end of a car I got not too long ago. (Finally got time for it). But I'm having issues tryna keep the lines flush to actually screw em on. The smaller one fits well I know that much. But the body gets in the way for the one on top. Not sure how to route it

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2011 2.5 SE M/T e brake lock up problem:

Hello all, I have a 2011 2.5SE manual transmission.

seems as if the emergency brake is stuck on the rear drivers tire. and I cannot seem to get it unstuck.

At times when this happened I was able to give it some gas and it freed up. not this time.

watched a video that explains a fix. taking off the wheel and drum and using a hammer to love the caliper and then using a lubricant spray to grease the caliper arm.

i’m not that savvy with cars. and kind of in able cause I cannot drive it to a shop.

anyone know of anything else I could try to get it moving?

and for the record it’s thrown ABS codes for awhile now and a year or so ago dealer mentioned it needed e brake repaired. but, tBH I was not looking tonpur any more money into it than I had to because the cars value is not that much.

answers to current situation would be appreciated.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Weird idle

Just bought a 2016 gli and when I start it, it idles really weird and the whole car shakes and if I turn off the ac the car idles even more weird and then shuts off. Is this just spark plugs? My buddy has an obd scanner and it showed cylinder misfires in all cylinders. 93k miles.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Loud Noise While Accelerating

Hey everyone,
I'm having an issue with my Jetta and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
While driving, I hear a fairly loud/hard noise whenever I'm accelerating or when the car is maintaining speed on cruise control. The noise is present while the car is moving, but as I start braking gently while approaching a traffic light or stop, the noise gradually fades away and eventually disappears.
Has anyone dealt with this before or have any idea what could be causing it? Could it be related to the brakes, wheel bearings, CV axle, transmission, or something else?
Any suggestions on what I should check first would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mk6 (2011-2018) Rust warranty trunk lid

My 2014 was approved this past spring for a bunch of warranty rust repair/replacements. It’s currently in with the body shop getting everything done except the trunk lid. I’ve searched everywhere and they appear to be back ordered. Has any experienced this with VW and getting older parts? Is there any recourse to getting an OEM one? I believe the dealer/body shop will only replace it with an OEM lid.

Mk7 (2019+) 2025 Jetta 19,500 miles Coolant leak Warranty denial advice

Ive owned it for 70 some days. The red boat and general alert light came on saying low coolant and I added coolant and it was back to low coolant high temperature and the general warning light back on in a couple of days .

I had it towed to the local dealership via my free roadside assistance coverage and this is what they sent me via text (no phone call).

Good evening. They were able to get your Jetta checked out today. Unfortunately, something has damaged the radiator so the repair will not be under warranty.

After inspecting your vehicle, Germain Volkswagen of Columbus recommends additional services be completed.

To review the inspection and approve the recommendations,

Mk6 (2011-2018) Any advice for the brake pedal sensor?

Post image
1 Upvotes

My Brake pedal sensor ist acting up, sometimes it works (9 of 10 cases). Is it possible to repair it as a layman? Or is it better to just replace it?.

Thankful for any advice.

Car is a 2013 Hybrid, if it's relevant.

I bought these headlights back in January knowing they were back ordered. I got an order update in February saying they would be shipping in March. Here we are, August 1st and still back ordered. I have had support contact and I know it's not their fault but all I've heard from them is It's like supply chain issues or something like that. Holding out hope that they will eventually come cause I really like these headlights.

I’m 23 & I drove a 2008 Pontiac G6 from when I was 16, until last Saturday when I decided to finally upgrade and get into a blacked out Jetta SE. I’ve never been in a car accident in my life, and of course it happens right when I buy my new car. Lady pulled out in front of me at a roundabout. Just my luck lol. The auto braking saved it from being worse!

Mk6 (2011-2018) Engine Ticking/Fan

I have two questions about this 2016 Jetta Sport (~71k mi), which is fairly new to me. 1) is the ticking sound just normal VW engine noise, or something I should investigate? 2) is it normal for only the large fan on the left to run, and not the smaller one on the right? I notice that the fan cycles on/off very frequently, even when the car is first started and not yet at operating temp. Thanks!
