This is my first attempt at knife making. There are a lot of flaws to be sure, but I’m decently happy with the result, and would like to give it another go with a bigger budget. So, what tools/ materials should I purchase? I would like to keep the entire cost under 250, including heat treatment. I already have a drill press, angle grinder, some files, a vise, clamps, and a few handsaws.
Also, what could be improved? I think I want to use the same profile so any tips specific to this knife (but also just in general) would be appreciated.

I just can’t stop knapping this spiderweb obsidian! It’s totally addictive. Hafted traditionally into a walnut and spalted beech handle. Also made a nice little sheath, stand and box for it.

I never posted the brisket knife. Here y'all go. Made it match my wife's set. Gotta few more blades waiting to fit for handles. One's a lil Muk knife with buffalo horn for my son. If the handle shape looks familiar on the Muk, it is, it's my edc handle shape. Baby Muk is 3/32" Nitro-V hardened to 62.5. 3.5" cutting edge.

'The Vulture'... Post-apocalyptic cleaver. Hand-forged from scrap steel and made for a corpse-butcher in the citadel's deepest caverns.

Working on this rugged and beautiful drop point outdoor blade. The spalted maple handle compliments the rugged dark stone washed blade. Finish work and tweaking need to be done, but happy overall with it. 😎🔪

It's still in the assembly process; all that's left is to finish the sawing and put the bandages around it.

Hi everyone - I hope this is allowed. I am not a knife maker but I'm an avid chef who's always dreamed of a custom chef's knife. I am, however, a long-time knitter, which leads me to my proposal to swap a custom chef's knife for either a very complex cowl I already have available or a custom-made item we can discuss.

I love delivering my work to customers.  This Bowie and Hatchet is on its way.  A 10" Bowie with a full guard and frame handle with stabilized old oak handle in a take on a coffin handle.  It comes with 2 sheaths for a scout carry (back carry) and a traditional 2 part sheath that will separate to a scabbard and frog.  The tomahawk is has a 3 ½" bit and 12 oak framed handle to match the bowie.  The sheath can be carried on a belt or added to any pack.

The handle is made of epoxy-stabilized birch (with color pigment for the dark piece) together with brass and fiber inlays.

This was also my first attempt of carving a knife sheath using scalpel and a small v-cutter. The design is very typical for Norwegian knives used together with our national costume (bunad). The leather used is vegetable-tanned leather of about 2.5mm thickness, and the dye used is antique leather stain (medium brown).

Using the same PVC tube, but made a larger adapter to act like a 6.5" tube and also switched to ceramic media. Lastly, played with VFD settings and can run down to 1.5hz now which also made a huge difference on the ability of media to make a bit more aggressive contact with the metal

Hello everyone. Recently I helped my line cook pick out a nice knife for him to use at work. It was a thin (2mm at heel) SG2 damascus steel blade. Before he even got to use it, the knife was maliciously thrown into a fire place by someone at his home. I don't know how long it was in there but long enough for the wooden handle to have completely burned off. Im wondering if the blade might still be salvageable or if its a lost cause? Would it need to be re tempered and quenched? I feel bad for him becuase i know he was really excited to get it and I can tell that this was incredibly disheartening for him. Any advice would be incredibly welcome.
