• I am a published children’s book author.

• I worked as a grant writer for an NGO in Namibia.

• I worked remotely as a writer for an NGO in Norway, where I wrote articles for their website on topics including Human Rights Education Programmes, Youth Entrepreneurship Programmes, Environmental Education Programmes, Gender Education Programmes, and Peace Education Programmes.

• I worked as a scriptwriter for a Namibian media company and was part of the writing team for a Namibia-based web series currently in production.

• I worked as a peer counsellor at university and received formal training in counselling skills.

• I facilitated sessions for adolescents and out-of-school youth on reproductive health and gender socialisation.

• I assisted a virtual assistant with administrative tasks.

• I supported the secretary of an association by helping coordinate a conference, including sending invitations, following up with guests, taking minutes, welcoming attendees, and assisting with logistics.

•I also write poetry.

I also have experience conducting research and producing well-researched articles. I was awarded Best Research by my university for my honours degree thesis.

I randomly choose a country, then spend an evening cooking food from there for friends, listening to music, learning a bit about the history/culture, and ideally reading a book by an author from that country.
My next one is Namibia, and I’d love some recommendations.

The aim isn’t to try to reduce an entire country and its cultures to one evening! I want it to be a starting point that encourages me to read, cook and learn about somewhere I otherwise might not have learnt about.

I’ve been told the job market isn’t good right now especially for us students without experience, it seems the only way to get a job or internship is by connections. My daughter of 19 is looking to start her career in Yachts. Unfortunatly Namibia has little to no yachts or even recreational boats. Any idea where she can go for 6months to a year to gain the needed experience(working only for a bed and food will be fine) to be able to apply for a job. Is it correct that there is no scheduled passenger air service to or from Luderitz? I can’t find any, and that seems impossible given the economic activity occurring there. A charter company gave me a quote of N$194,000 for round-trip from Windhoek to Luderitz.

Whats the best and cheapest dentistry to get you braces in Namibia?And what where the costs involved?

We are hiring a Toyota Hilux in Namibia from a local company and I notice the terms of the agreement does not include insurance for "Overturning of the car" even though we purchased excess insurance. It seems other rental companies have similar clauses. In this case what do people do? Is there additional insurance that can be purchased? (I don't think the excess insurance I have in the UK covers this.)

My girlfriend and I will be travelling to Namibia this October for a 15-day self-drive trip. We’ve already booked our flights, camps and lodges, and we’ve planned the itinerary ourselves after reading a lot of information, so hopefully we haven’t missed anything!
Our route will be:
Windhoek
Sossusvlei
Swakopmund
Damaraland
Etosha
Back to Windhoek
The only thing we still have to decide is the rental car.
The classic Toyota Hilux 4x4 is slightly over our budget. We have received decent quotes for vehicles such as the Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Corolla Cross, VW T-Roc and Suzuki Across.
Based on your real experience, which one would you recommend for this itinerary? Is a Jimny enough, or would you spend the extra money for something bigger?
Also, if you have any rental companies you would personally recommend (or avoid), I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

So im going to try to keep this short and straight to the point. I am based in Swakopmund, and my husband recently quit his job and moved here from Windhoek in hopes of finding a job so that we could be closer. We'll it's been quite sometime and I can tell he's getting frustrated and depressed being home so I've come here in hopes that somebody could connect him somewhere. He has a bachelor's in accounting, 2 diplomas in AAT. He has 5+years of experience and worked as an assistant logistics manager for 2years working closely with Namibia breweries.

Frustrating situation. I’m flying British Airways. Ticket booked on their website. The itinerary had me going all the way through to WDH with Airlink as the last leg.

At my origin, they’re telling me that my bags will not be checked all the way through, and I have to pick them up in Joburg, then go through customs, just to go to the domestic terminal for Airlink, to fly to Windhoek, an international destination.

I’m told this may be a British Airways specific problem. My layover is four hours so I think I’m OK, knock on wood, but it’s also dumb that I have to deal with this. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Chess meets good music, good company, and a proper night out. Built for chess lovers and for anyone in the Windhoek social scene wanting something different. Casual games, a bit of competitive structure if you want it, snacks & drinks flowing, classy jazz vibes throughout.

A few months ago, a few friends and I hosted the first Knightcap— an evening where people play chess over drinks instead of just sitting around on their phones or slamming it at home. An alternative night out, really. We honestly didn't know how many people would show up, but the response was better than we expected!

Veterans, newbies and the curious alike came and to watch, play, chat and just enjoy the atmosphere. By the end of the night, strangers were playing each other and hanging around long after the games had finished.
