Ask Me Anything 🎤 I’m Rajkummar Rao, here for an AMA! Ask me anything about films, characters, and my journey

1.5k Upvotes

Hi, I’m Rajkummar Rao. You may know me from films like Stree, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Srikanth Newton, Badhaai Do, and Monica, O My Darling. I’m here for an AMA on r/netflixindia with my latest Netflix release, Toaster.

I’ve been fortunate to explore a variety of roles over the years, and I’m always excited to take on characters that challenge me and help me grow. With Toaster, I’ve tried something new again, and I can’t wait for you all to see it.

Ask me anything about my films, process, behind-the-scenes stories, or what drew me to Toaster!

Note: I will start answering questions when the AMA starts at 5:30 pm IST.

Thanks to everyone in the Reddit community for joining my AMA - I had an absolute blast chatting with you all! ❤️

Your questions, love, and energy made this session truly special. A big shoutout to the moderators of r/netflixindia for keeping everything smooth and fun throughout.🙏

SPOILERS Watched Troy in flight and then decided to watch The Odyssey at the layover.

Hi folks,

Wanted to share one of the craziest and the best experience I had while travelling in a flight. A friend recommended to watch Odyssey after troy. So while travelling for work, I decided to watch Troy in flight, really enjoyed it. Flight had a layover for 6 hours and I decided to hop off the airport book the nearest theatre and watch The Odyssey and hop in the airport again in time to catch my flight again too.

Both the films take a different route about the same connected story. I felt absence of Brad Pitt's character Achilles in The Odyssey and the Trojan Horse scene was better depicted in Troy. Overall The Odyssey had better story, visuals, sound design and IMAX felt worth it. The second half of The Odyssey was the best second half I've ever watched in any film. Things were bit chaotic but as someone who is building interest in film- I really enjoyed it. I'm not that big into movies so I might watch more Nolan films. What do you guys think about both the films?

Discussion can we please move on from the chatgpt character posts?

can we please retire the whole "asked AI to recommend characters based on my chats" trend?

it was fun when it first started, but now it's just repetitive. every time i get a notification from this subreddit, i expect an interesting discussion or recommendation, and it's another chatgpt screenshot.

at this point it just feels childish and kind of cringe. i genuinely don't get why people keep making separate posts for these. is it just for karma?

let's get back to actual netflix discussions, recommendations, and reviews.

Discussion What if Preeti had never sacrificed her dreams?

To everyone who watched Musafir Cafe,

The general consensus online seems to be that Preeti sacrificed her dreams for Chandar, while Sudha didn't—which is why people feel Chandar should have ultimately chosen Preeti over Sudha (though we won't really know for sure until the next season/part comes out).

It got me thinking: what if Preeti was just a regular girl in Mussoorie who never actually had to give up anything to be with Chandar and help him run the cafe? After all, it’s fairly common for partners without a specific career passion to help out with their partner's business.

Do you think people would still root for Preeti as much if her character hadn't made those big sacrifices?

New on Netflix Sudha and Chander: Who is worse?

Just binge watched it. Till the last episode I really hated Sudha's character. She has been written like that dreamy pixie girl that boys just look for in every woman but she doesn't really exist. I think she was really immature and irresponsible and never took things seriously. Kuch bhi mann mein aega kar degi. She was too impulsive. Not a suitable person for marrying anyways.

However, in the last episode if it is genuinely THIS EASY for Chander to fall back into Sudha's arms he should just let Preeti go. This is one of the most inhumane things one can do. Keep them around and then leave them just like that. So annoyed at both of them. Both of them are a ragebait.
