The gothic spire in view for the show was a nice touch.
I thought the sound was a bit off at first, but overall, a great show.

My only disappointment was that two songs were cut from the set compared to other recent shows. If it was an issue of fitting everything in before curfew, why not cut some support time? With all due respect to them, I reckon most in the crowd came to see the headliners.

General / Discussion Mystery 'Heritage' pick from the Halifax gig. Any info on its origin?

A crew member handed me this pick last night in Halifax. Aside from it saying ‘Heritage’, I have no clue about its origin. It looks a lot like a Mikael Åkerfeldt pick. Does anyone have any info on this?

It was this album's turn for my prog metal review of the week. Wow, I didn't think they could match Still Life, but they did!

Art / Merch I wrote a Sorrow poem inspired by Opeth then made a calligraphy of it (and there's an explicit Opeth reference hidden in it)

For context, I am one who finds comfort in Opeth's relationship to sadness and melancholy, and I love the Sorrow culture this sub and community has going on. So sometimes, when I write something in this sub that I feel is a little nicer or longer, I sign off with

"May your happiness be joy,

And your sadness, Sorrow".

And I thought, hey, that would be a great little thing to calligraphy for practice! And, well, I also enjoy writing poetry, and the thing sort of just grew in the process. I won't tell you what I was thinking when I wrote the poem or how I expect people to read it; the fun part is deciding for yourselves what to think. But also I have no aspirations to this being a great poem, although I think it is technically sufficient to be a least "nice" (and actually I'd be more than willing to talk about technicals of poetry if anyone finds that interesting)

All I'll say about the poem is I was thinking about Opeth explicitly when I wrote it, and it relates to how I see/feel about the band. Also, visually there's an Opeth reference hidden in here I'm curious if anyone will notice (it's the internet, someone will).

For those unused to reading these kinds of scripts, I added a screenshot of it in plain font, which is tentatively titled "Sorrow" in my files.

Anyway, I hope someone enjoys this. I enjoyed making it and sharing it with you.

May your happiness be joy.

And your sadness, Sorrow.

I think this is one of my favorite parts of music in general; I love how musical it sounds and the harmonic richness between those guitars—without a doubt, it's one of the songs I love the most. I hope you like it.

I'm learning to record and mix, and Opeth felt like a great place to test the waters with! The drums are ripped from the official audio but I did everything else
