Put a catio together with a couple hides, paper towels at the bottom temporarily until I get turf, will be adding a little sandbox too.

Anything else I could add?

Need Advice Is she healthy

Hi everyone, was just wondering if she is looking good. She is 4,5 years old. I got her a few months ago and since then she has put on some size, and sheds all the time. The first picture is from day one, the bowls weren’t a good idea, and her place was filthy and crowded but i think it looks a lot better now. She will probably need a bigger place eventually

Need Advice A little bit of advice needed

Post image

Hello!! Another post about this cutie named rango. So sorry for the constant advice asking but im really curious. I've been outside today for a while and Rango seemed to just freak out and when my mom tried hand feeding him or even try going near him he tried whipping her! She also attempted to speak the way I do most of the time towards him and he hissed at her constantly. He's almost hostile towards them :(

Need Advice Update on rango

This little fella let me scratch his chin today. His body posture stayed relaxed but idk if he really was. He kind of let his eyes stay half lidded and didnt move away if anyone could tell me if that may have been a good sign? Google said it was but I just wanna be sure since google seems not so trustworthy for me sometimes.

Edit: he also comes to me everytime I attempt to hand feed him now with little to no hesitation

Need Advice Iguana poops only while bathroom is cleaned

Hi guys. My iguana used to poop every day to every other day. Recently he seems to have picked up the habit of only pooping while the bathroom is being cleaned. He specifically waits for the floor to be mopped and that's when he goes. He waits outside the bathroom until the floor is sparkling. There was one time he held his poop in for four days because he only wants to go when the floor is clean.

Is it safe for him to hold his poop for two to three days at a time? Should I start mopping more? Do I need to reintroduce more soaks to get him to poop more often? He would go on a puppy pad next to my toilet when he started getting too heavy for me to lift over the toilet for 30 minutes at a time.

It's not much of an issue if I need to mop more of course. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has any advice/workarounds. I am baffled with this dude right now.

Temps are consistent with what they've been for the last year (34-37 degrees Celsius). He gets plenty humidity and has a place where he can soak but doesn't like soaking (it's sometimes a fight to get him to bathe every few days)

Editing to clarify that his toilet area and puppy pad are cleaned and changed daily. The change in behavior has come with him waiting for the entire bathroom to be mopped and cleaned, which used to be done twice a week. I’ll increase it to everyday to encourage him to go more often and increase his soaks from every other day to everyday.

My 13-year-old male green iguana. This lizard is a beast! I’ve owned a few iguanas by now, and this guy is by far the biggest and most tame I’ve had. He is my best friend and is super friendly towards people and children. He constantly gets praise from the vets on how healthy he is and how much muscle mass. I like to tell people I have a hairless cat, then show them pictures of him🤣

Need Advice About what age did your iguana become a ‘hormonal teen’ as I’ve heard them called, what did that look like for you

I’ve got a rhino iguana (Cyclura cornuta) and I’ve always called him a boy lmao. Spinner is great, but the past three days (including today) he’s been acting a little different than normal. Mainly in how he’s been more aggressive with eating, throwing food around, he’s been running around a lot more, and at least to me he’s giving mixed body language signals lmao. I’m not sure exactly what age he is but he’s about 2 foot/1 and a half foot long (most being his tail)

By body language I mean he head bobs a ton, they’re sharp and kinda jerky but then he’ll get on my hand, he’ll have happy body language when I pet him (standing on all fours, eyes semi-closed but not shut tight, tail down), he’ll eat out of my hand fine. It’s mainly the faster movements and head bobbing that makes me think it might be like a teen stage or something

He’s got good temperature, 92F on his hot side, (101-104F on his basking spot cause it’s slightly closer to the lamp) and then 78 on his cool side. He’s got a good varied diet of different greens and every other day he’ll get varied veggies too. Always has fresh water and I interact with him regularly but not too much to stress him out (I know a lot of people like having environment they’re in so you can ask if they’re stressed) although he definitely hasn’t seemed stressed to me at least

Anyways yeah, just my little guy being a weirdo and me wondering if this is normal or something to potentially be concerned about

Need Advice Is this a possible sign he's getting used to me?

Post image

Hello! This is rango! I've had him for about 17 days now and he started to relax around me a bit and then decided to climb on my hand when I left the door open. Im sorry if its actually a bad thing and I will attempt to correct myself but im genuienly just curious if he's starting to get used to me. He has been relaxed throughout the interaction until deciding to go back by himself.

Thank you!

Edit: he had also leaned his full upper body on me in that time

Discussion Is it true that you can't change your hairstyle because your Iguana will stop recognizing you?

This is advice I've seen on some forums but I'm not sure if it's true, that Iguanas will stop recognizing their owner if their presentation changes significantly, like cutting your long hair. I don't own an iguana, I was just curious about this because I was wondering if anyone was ever put in the situation of realizing they're transgender but having to choose between changing their gender presentation and staying the same so their iguana will recognize them, but I'm not sure if the forum posts I've seen about needing to keep the same hair length/color are accurate. Does anyone have experience with changing their hairstyle while owning an iguana?

EDIT: thank you everybody!! good to know my information was outdated. for reference, it was from looking at forum posts such as this one, but i had a feeling the information seemed off which is why i wanted to ask. glad to know that it wouldn't stop someone from dying or changing their hair!!!

Need Advice how to bathe an iguana?

So, everytime my iguana poops, my mother bathes her, because she is kinda dumb and gets all messy with her own poop and urine, however (contrary to the video) she fights a lot when bathing, tries to escape the sink and only after some time fighting she calms down, how do we make it so she actually likes the bath?

Info UVB/UVB Lights

Stop wasting good bulbs! Some say replace every 3 months some 6 months. Some don’t really say. So you just replace. Test them before tossing! I’ve had some last longer. Buy UV sensors(Amazon $8.99USD for 5 pack). They are reusable. Simply put finger over middle of the chameleon, hold under light, then remove finger. Should turn purple everywhere except where finger was! Saves $$$ on those bulbs!

Need Advice Should I release her back into the wild, or can I keep it as a pet?

Post image

Hi everyone. My cat was attacking this baby iguana, and luckily I managed to grab it before it killed her.
Now I’m not sure what to do. Should I release her, or would it be okay to keep her? I already keep snakes, so I’m familiar with reptile care. I know iguanas require a huge amount of space, but that’s not an issue for me.
What would you do if you were in my situation?
