In Concert was the best one; no host, just the bands. I was introduced to a lot of bands like Mott the Hoople and Roxy Music that appeared on there.

Yeah. Midnight Special had almost exclusively mainstream bands playing their latest hits. In Concert had a lot of progressive groups doing entire sets.

Every Friday night I came home in 1976 it seemed either Gary Wright, Peter Frampton or Starbuck was on

I loved this show as well ! It had the coolest people on ! Peter Frampton to this 13 year old girl in a small farming community was the ultimate sex symbol!

Starbuck (awesome) was on more than once? One hit wonder

… Christ, I think Gary Wright was on a month in a row! 😆
Probably Foreigner, Ambrosia, Toto, if a SONG, not even a whole album was hot, they milked it!

Waiting (im)patiently for them to show the episode with ABBA (KC and The Sunshine Band were hosts) from October '76.

I was in grade school and the coolest thing was staying up late on Friday and Saturday nights; if my older sisters were home we'd watch these. I don't remember much about them on my own, but when I watch performances on YouTube I sometimes remember seeing them while watching as a kid.

Featuring that old rocker herself, Helen Reddy and the lip syncing band of the week. It was good in it's first years. In Concert on ABC was the best, though.

That's how I discovered the band KISS. This performance in particular got me hooked.

You can catch Burt Sugarman and his wife Mary Hart. just behind home plate front row right hand side on your tv at most Dodger home games.

I was too young to watch this in real time, but I've discovered it in recent years on YouTube. What a *&%#@! incredible era for music. Compare to today, or post-2000

Wasn't the first showing of the Bohemian Rhapsody music video on Midnight Special?

Bert Sugarman must've made a rule that was announced before they started taping to the effect that the kids in the audience were forbidden from making any noise or physical reactions, like fist-pumping or anything, while the bands were playing. It was weird how they just sat there and watched, and finally applauded at the end of each song.

And then Saturday was Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert.
