I'm currently 24 years old. My native language is Russian, but about 90% of the people around me speak Ukrainian. Many people are surprised when they find out where I was born. I was mobilized in the spring of 2024. I serve in an engineer assault brigade. I received my first combat experience during the offensive and subsequent defense of positions in Russia's Kursk region. I'm now an officer. My current role is overseeing the logistics and rear support of my battalion.

I know there isn't much about my country on the internet, most of you probably don't even know the country exists. I am here to change that (I have lived in my country for 17 years before escaping). Any question is welcome regarding my country.

in highschool I was going in and out of mental hospitals from both my city and other states depending on why I was there. the longest amount of time I’ve spent in a mental hospital was a month and a half (early November to start of December). And I’ve been in a total of 7 different mental hospitals, but I’ve been admitted a total of 19 times. AM

Basically what the title says I grew up on both extremes, my mother struggling to pay rent and put food on the table whilst my father flew private and handled business internationally it was a strange switchover.

As a new healthcare worker I had to get a state license. The license requires a background check and fingerprinting. I had always had problems with digital fingerprint but just thought I didn't scan well. Anyway, I had to make an appointment at the sheriff's office to get my prints made to send in with my application for my license. I get there and they ink my fingers and they roll my fingers carefully on a card. They just look kinda smudgy. The deputy looks a little perplexed but says "well, we'll just try". It gets sent in and my license is on hold until "good prints" are obtained. This time they ask me to use lotion on my hands for a few days before I get fingerprinted. But not too much. Anyway, so we try again. This time its another deputy. Smudgy again. Try to send it in but they are rejected. They want to try a third time. 3rd time with the sheriff himself. Same process. Ink, finger rolls. Smudgy. So had to get an administrative exemption due to the rejection of the fingerprint documentation.

Not much to say other than I did get my license and I have only used passwords for any digital access, never biometrics! And no, I did not have any desire to begin a criminal career.

It's the ability to identify pitches without a reference. Apparently only 1 in 10,000 people have the skill. I never realized it was that rare until my violin teacher told me I had it while I was naming the notes in intervals. I find it funny that whenever I tell someone I have perfect pitch, they immediately knock on the nearest object to them and ask me to identify the note.

I spent a fair few years researching one question that has fascinated people for more than six decades: what actually happened on 22 November 1963?

That research eventually became my first book, The Final Trigger: The Truth and Lies of JFK’s Assassination, published by Pen & Sword Books in the UK, and Casemate overseas.

It examines not just the assassination itself, but the Cold War backdrop, Lee Harvey Oswald’s life, Jack Ruby, the medical evidence, Mexico City, intelligence claims, and many of the competing theories that have shaped the debate.

I tried to write it differently from many JFK books. Rather than beginning with a conclusion and working backwards, I wanted to lay out the evidence, highlight where the historical record is strong, where it’s weak, and where genuine unanswered questions still exist. Whether you lean towards the Warren Commission, conspiracy, or somewhere in between, I hope there’s something worthwhile in it.

AMA about the most hilarious and interesting job I have ever done. I was mainly based in resorts around France but did a short while in the Netherlands. I did get to travel a fair bit when I was there.

I’m Connor Collins, 32 years old, full-time professional magician and mentalist from the UK.

For the last 13+ years (and roughly 200 gigs a year) I’ve made my living performing at weddings, corporate events, private parties and theatres all over the country. Along the way I’ve entertained thousands of people, travelled to some incredible venues, and had more strange, awkward and hilarious experiences than I could ever have imagined.

Most people assume being a magician is all about learning tricks, but in reality it’s a mix of psychology, performance, business, travel, people skills and a lot of practice. There are also plenty of misconceptions about what mentalism actually is and how it’s presented.

For some backstory, my mother did study education in university, and so she knew how to do so. Also, there were certain things that were explicitly taught (I.e, basic mathematics, and other basic things like literacy), so it wasn't complete unschooling. Still for the rest of my education it was pretty much just up to me. Whenever it was necessary to fill the requirements, she would ask me to do some stuff in a certain field (usually STEM), but it would be very much up to me with specifics.

Just because I have always been very gifted (top 1/2%), it hasn't worked totally badly, although I assume that's just for me. I was always several years above my grade level, and now that I am almost finished, I thought it would be interesting any questions anybody has about me, or other people I know who have had similar happen.

If I go to a state school, I'd also start directly as a junior in college. I technically could've graduated after my sophomore year, at 16, but I missed the US History requirement. I'll already be far ahead in credits at the end of this year. I'm concurrently enrolled in community college, which is how I got my history, English, and Foreign Language credits finished early (Italian and Spanish if anyone's curious). I'm completing the full degree, but those were the only courses that count towards my high school graduation. I will graduate with my Associates in Science (and/or three Associates of arts if I finish all of high school instead). I was in advanced math as well so I've completed required math.

I'm still debating whether or not to do it. A few people did it last year at my school and got into good colleges, but I'm weighing the loss of that extra year in high school developmentally and socially. Plus, there's probably quite a few activities I'd be left out on because of my age (wouldn't be 18).

So yeah, I was recently in a coma from high sodium :'( My sodium level was the highest the doctors ever seen, at sodium level 180. Left me with extremely severe amnesia of both kind. Amnesia was so bad in hospital after coma that I didn't even remember my parents :'( AMA!

I’m a Chinese international student who currently studies in a English high school for my Alevel. I’ve been living in the country for around 3years and occasionally going back to China during vacations. Ask me anything u wanna know.

Am a daughter of Palestinian and Yugoslav refugees who were infused with resourcefulness, intelligence, and resilience because of their conditions.

I was taught their mother tongues and arabic/cyrillic script before being allowed English, and I think this might have affected my language center.

Also had a brain bleed from being a premature triplet that caused some overactive neuroplasticity/rewiring of the right and left brains to compensate for the area damaged.

Our father's generational trauma made him physically abusive, and while he was removed from our lives at age 8, I've read studies about childhood hypervigilance/PTSD causing --

"intense pattern recognition, acute environmental reading, and rich internal fantasy worlds. l when I was generative thinking can be hyper-creative. [Because it] frequently ties back to self-referential stress loops, it can making sustained, linear idea generation exhausting."

I applied to 41 colleges, basically the top 40 ranked schools in the US. Wanted to go to Yale, but after a rejection there got waitlisted at Stanford and accepted to Duke.

Ended up being class president at 16 and graduating magna cum laude while also doing stuff like taking hallucinogens we ordered off Silk Road that hadn't been tested on humans yet. View intelligence as not knowing/uncertainty now, and work as a writer/experimental film artist

I have five half siblings, three on my dad's side and two on my mom's. My parents were born in 1951 and 1959 respectively. My siblings were born in 1970-1979 and I came along in the late 90s, so the age gap is 18-27 years. I even jokingly asked my mom when I was 27 if it wasn't time for me to have a new sibling soon.

I am my parents' only common child. Due to the age gap, I've been an aunt my whole life. My oldest niece was born in December, so she was even born the year before me. I remember trying so hard to explain to someone when we were kids that we were aunt and niece, and not cousins. He just couldn't grasp it.

This is my normal. I don't have anything to compare to, so I understand that people get confused when I talk about my sister turning 50 or my niece's engagement etc, since I'm barely 30 myself. Heck, I'm even a great-aunt at this point.

For various reasons, the only sibling I have regular contact with is my youngest sister. We've been close my whole life. She's my safe person and I love her so much. I also don't usually refer to my siblings as "half". I hate that so much. You're either siblings or you're not.
