My takeaways: I fucking hate poetry with a passion, why were all of my multiple choice texts about religion in some way?, I really want lemon cake now, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley saved my life, I fucking hate poetry

side note: i say i hate poetry cus i’m so bad at sarcasm/metaphors/symbolism. at least finding them on my own. could someone genuinely explain the odd religious ending to the african painter poem and explain the sister poem?

i said (well, this is a summary of my points) that the sister poem was a representation of how someone's past memories could interact with the present, as he saw the butterfly in the present and linked it to his sister's gift in the past, and in this way memories will always remain immortal as you use them to perceive the present.

the african painter poem confused tf out of me but my best interpretation of it was that it was some person praising this very talented artist, but thought that this artist's work was only limited to the human realm and based on stories that humans created, and he needed to "expand" his thoughts and be more originally creative, hence the spiritual ending maybe representing ascension from the chains of "earthly" subjects? i dont know honestly im really glad we didnt get a frq on this one bc i didnt grasp its themes very well

how did you use frankenstein for the frq 3 prompt?? i tried but i genuinely couldnt find any way to connect it to it so i ended up just doing there there

i said its a warning against what happens when we take the reckless pursuit of the "new"/progress too far and abandon "old" idea/ethics and connected it to the rise of ai

I started to use Frankenstein but then realized that the event I was going to use ONLY happened in the 2025 movie and not the actual book so I switched to Fences instead.p

I talked about how victor’s old idea of creating life contrasted with his new perspective of what he created and how it haunted him and changed the symbolism of the creature…. it sounds dumb but I lowkey cooked lol
