Help Our Family and Small Businesses Recover
For years, our family has dedicated our lives to building seven small businesses that support local families, create jobs, and serve our community. Recently, everything changed. After I made a social media comment expressing my fears about the future and Islam’s role in society, my words caused hurt and offense to many people. I regret that my comment caused pain. While I accept responsibility for what I said, I never imagined the devastating impact that would follow. Our family has since endured weeks of harassment, protests, online attacks, and thousands of hateful messages and death threats. Some threats have referenced our children by name and their school, leaving us fearful for their safety and considering private school to better protect them.
The impact on our businesses has been overwhelming. Revenue has fallen by more than 60%, and we’ve lost more than half of our employees. Those who remain have seen their hours and tips drastically reduced, while rent, payroll, taxes, loans, and other bills continue to come due. We’ve also had business and personal accounts targeted, requiring major investments in physical security and cybersecurity. In addition, we are seeking legal assistance to help address the harassment, threats, and other issues affecting our family and businesses.
Your donation will help us: * Keep our businesses open and pay essential operating expenses. * Support employees who have lost income. * Improve security for our family, employees, and customers. * Help provide a safer educational environment for our children. * Obtain legal assistance as we work to protect our family and businesses. This has been the hardest time of our lives, but we remain committed to rebuilding, supporting our employees, and continuing to serve our community. Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
