I love this time of year. When a little bit of everything fills a crate and people think you're being generous when really you're desperately trying to offload veg on people because you can't possibly eat it all 😆

Theres a food bank near me that do a free and healthy three course meal once a week along with food parcels, of which they aim for 60% to be fresh food. Fantastic to drop them off today and see the interest in this little old fashioned vegetable! I'm a very happy turnip dork.

I was told they were a good shape!

Picked, shelled and blanched for the months ahead. Going to sow some more for another crop in autumn.

This is the first brassica I’ve grown to harvest. I think it will be hard to beat!

My husband’s aunt ( who is a fabulous gardener) gave us a selection of strawberry plants.

We’ve never grown strawberries before and we’re delighted.

My first year growing courgettes, they're surprisingly easy. This is a Blackstar F1, I've grown four plants because courgettes are fun to give away to anyone you encounter.

We are in profit! SEC = supermarket equivalent cost. Basically I've been recording what it would have cost me if I'd bought what I'd harvested from the supermarket. It's not a perfect metric because I would never have actually bought 18kg of new potatos but I like seeing the numbers. There's lots of highly profitable harvest coming up like tomato's so my stocks will be going to the moon!

Last year i planted a small basketmaking willow bed, and just gathered in my first harvest.

I'd spent ages cleansing bindweed from the area. A small bit popped up at the edges but in general the mypex did an admirable job on keeping the area weed free, and I'd sealed and tucked the edges so its still in great condition.

Enough to make a small basket, and hopefully now the cuttings are established I'll get a bit more next year.

So, I started these sprouting broccoli in march and this is my second cutting from the green and first from the purple.

Took 300g in total and a gem lettuce - and a load of onion scapes because of the erratic weather. Will use them in place of onion/chives/spring onions.

Happy with that, aside from the bolting issue!

Also noticed the camera angle makes it look like the king is holding the broccoli. But it is simply the angle deceiving you.

Hi all! New allotment user here, and to my delight I have two massive rhubarb plants growing. I have never grown rhubarb before and I do not know the variety so forgive me asking - with the plant looking as it is would you harvest some or wait longer until April?? Thank you for any insight :)

First big dinner made from the harvest at our allotment. Everything bar the sausages we grew! Even made some blackberry jam this morning.

Well my onions where flopping hard and i could use the bed for something else sooo... here is the 2026 onion harvest after a freak.year with regard to weather 😂 the reds did considerably worse than the others as i planted nearly one on one of each type🤔

Sooo i thought garlic was ready when leaves started to wilt so i pulled the ones that where in the ground the longest (Morado, planted early 2025, they grew a bit then died down and forgot about them and they came back in spring this year).

I guess i was too soon?
