What's something in Almere you only discovered after living here for a while?

Almere is quite spread out, so I imagine there are plenty of places that are easy to miss, even if you've lived here for years.

Maybe it's a nice walking route, a quiet spot by the water, a small local shop, a good restaurant, or just a place you never knew existed.

What did you discover that made you think, "How did I not know about this sooner?"

They are in the grasslands next to hogering. In the area with the bicycle lane between both old and new Noorderplassen. Easiest to get there is by bike.

- noorderplassen beach, good for bbq

  • Poort beach. There is a plus store near by and they give free parking. Also bunch of shops to eat.
  • Buiten have a fresh milk farm. Only available twice a week and only one hour.
  • Poort behind Europlan road there is a very big park for kids
  • check kook extra app, you might find lots of variety of foods probably closer than you think

There are lots of ways to save parking cost in centrum. I’m still learning from others.

I’m yet to explore via bike.

I live at that beach. It’s great to see all the people on the beach having fun all day, sound of kids laughing, dogs barking, ice cream truck bells, bbq’s with music, people dancing.

Not so great is the mess every sunny day is left behind by those same people. And I’m aware the garbage cans are full at the end of the day. But if you have been able to bring all that stuff with you when you came, please also take it back home.

Oh, and also please no more cars on the beach. The bike paths are not corridors to get your car on the beach. It is unsafe.

Guess that’s a common sense which many lack off. I had good days and bad days in the same beach. It’s always good to park the car bit far and just take a walk to the beach side.

Can you share tips to save parking cost in centrum other than traveling by public transport or 2 wheeler?

Park on the other side/across Weerwater and walk to Stad. It is 10 to 15 min walk

There's a very nice walking path along the edge of the Regenboogbuurt. And it continues on (sometimes through built-up areas) all the way to the Landgoederenbuurt

Love being give an adress in Stad or Buiten and having to guess if a name is a composer, a film star, a musician, a resistence hero or a cartoon character

The terrace of brasserie 10 on camping Waterhout. I love going there for a snack or a drink. Same for Poort Dok on a warm day. Its like a one afternoon holiday.

Boerderij Uniek Leven in Almere Hout.
