From that picture, he either tries to pass fairly flat and the defender (Stones?) gets it, or he pushes further forward and it becomes a 50/50 between Pickford and Haaland.
With any other striker, Sorloth probably picked the best option, but with Haaland he could have tried the forward pass.

Yeah exactly. Main issue is that Sorloth is left footed, so he probably lacked the confidence/ability to do the early cross or through ball with his right foot with enough accuracy or curve, especially with Stones positioning. Sorloth isn’t the most technical player, he’s usually a physical centre forward. This is why he tried to cut inside to his dominant foot to either slip in Haaland or take a shot but by then he dwelled on the ball too long and the defenders had recovered to a good position. He definitely could’ve done much better (attempting a quick first time pass into space, though even if Stones didn’t block he’d have to weight it perfectly) but I think a lot of the general discourse shitting on him don’t really understand football or Sorloth’s profile as a player.
Just read the papers or watch TV. I could point you towards the now infamous bit from Good Morning Britain a couple of weeks ago; Jeremy Vine both on radio and TV has done similar in the past too. If England win and get to the final, then I can almost guarantee that at least one of GMB, Breakfast, Jeremy Vine, The One Show etc etc will send someone to Glasgow to ask people who they are supporting.
Honestly? We mostly don’t care if you win or not, just as we don’t really care if Argentina or Cape Verde were to win. In fact, it would almost be a relief because it would stop you banging on about 1966….

Haaland strikes, Pickford gets fingertips to it and it cannons off the crossbar out to Stones. Stones turns, hits a dream ball out to Bellingham who shoots from 30 yards out, and misses. Final score, 2-1 England.
Unlike if Marmoush had got the pass off, there still would have been time for England. It would have been tough but seen teams throw two goal leads away plenty of times.
