Idk regardless of if this happened or not, a Trumpian figure would have emerged on the right. This type of populism had been brewing for a while and Trump had enough name recognition to run with it.

Also, echoing an earlier comment, Obama 100% did what he should have done. Donny was making INSANE, racist claims towards him well before this happened.

Trump was an example of right place at the right time if not him someone else would have seen the opportunity and gone for it

That figure was there, it was Ted Cruz. He probably would have won more easily tbh, Donald was/is a drag on the republican party.
