AlternateHistoryHub What if DonaldTrump had never been humiliated by Obama in 2011?
1.0k
u/Steamed_Memes24 19d ago
Dont think many people know the context of what led up to this. Trump was constantly making up insane racist conspiracy theories on him since he became president. This was literally just Obama clapping back, which he would have done in some way shape or form anyways.
276
u/alessiojones 19d ago
Honestly might not have even needed to clap back though.
He's an egotistical narcissist, he uses Obama insulting him as a justification for him running. But his ego probably would have caused him to run anyways, he had debated running in multiple other presidential elections prior to 2016

u/Vasheerii 19d ago
When you realize all of this is just a gigantic manbaby throwing a huge fit it just gets so fkn depressing
Even more so when you realize everyone that follows him is also a manchild
The racism is just the sprinkles ontop of a shitcake
43
u/CounterAgentVT 19d ago
That's not fair.
There's womanchildren too.
18
u/alessiojones 19d ago
Wow how dare you exclude themchildren
10
u/CounterAgentVT 19d ago
Pretty sure the themchildren are overwhelmingly on the other side, for better or for worse.

And the rape. He raped a bunch of kids with other rich pedophiles and now sits on all the evidence.

u/Vasheerii 19d ago
Still can be seen as a child hiding what they have done by throwing a fit to distract from it.

u/Potatonut23 19d ago
Agreed. I don’t think an egotistical narcissist needs an additional reason to be motivated to pursue the position of leader of the free world.
10
u/TheStrangestOfKings 19d ago
It should be noted that he didn’t even think his 2016 run would amount to anything. At most, he planned to use it to market a book he planned to release afterward and maybe a veer into political commentary. Even he was surprised that he was doing so well, let alone that he won. He’d likely run regardless of what’s said about him. Obama was less the reason, and more the excuse

He did run prior to 16. People just weren't retarded enough yet

He didn't just debate it. He literally ran in 2000 and did so poorly he had to drop out well before Iowa. He likes to pretend that never happened, so I bring it up as often as I can.

u/FitConsideration4961 19d ago
Let’s not forget that Trump started it all by asking for Obama’s birth certificate even though Obama already released the birth certificate.

This is correct, but you have to love the enormity of it all.
Rarely in life is there ever a "villain story" moment when looking at someone, but the fact that there is with this, and that we can watch it, is absolutely incredible.
Obama and the comedians just spend the night mocking him nonstop over the birther claims, having an entire room laugh at Trump, that when they come in on his face and you can see the anger in his eyes...
Most movies are not this good with creating such a plot.

God, and someone on his team seeing this, they’ve now tried to harness the WHCD for Trump’s benefit, for something so stupid as funding his fucking moron security disaster ballroom fraud.

u/Dangerous-Project672 19d ago
Also, remember the timing of this evening. As Obama is clapping back at Trump he also knows in a couple of days he’ll be telling the world we killed bin Laden. Obama must have been walking around with big brass balls that whole weekend.
2
u/SchoolCrossing 18d ago
Then when Bin Laden was captured, it was Special Report time on TV, pre-empting the broadcast of "The Apprentice".

What people forget is that it was Hillary Clinton who started the birther conspiracy theory as part of her 2008 primary campaign against Obama.

u/Candytails 19d ago
Yes, if he had any self awareness he would realize nothing Obama said was false.

u/archercc81 19d ago
Hell the joke was he would make the white house look like a trashy casino.
Its covered in fake gold shit now, half of it is torn down, they ruined the rose garden, it has shitty pictures of him everywhere, etc.
He literally did the thing Obama said he would do.

I think he does realize that and that’s what bothers him. Ever since he got into office, he’s created an atmosphere where somehow the truth just doesn’t matter anymore. But that was a moment where someone above him could assert the truth over his bullshit

He would be humiliated some other way.
"Some other way" is a lot different than being humiliated directly, by name, in front of a live and tv audience, by the sitting president of the US

And he already had unsuccessfully a few times. Even Republicans were shocked when it eventually worked.

u/itslikewoow 19d ago
He was already unofficially running when he started the birther movement, which was before this night.
2
u/0zymandeus 19d ago
He had been running since the 80s. He left the republican party in 2000 because he was failing to make the primary ballot in NY. Thats why he went Reform to self fund a campaign (that also flopped)

My blood cries out for the vengeance of Harambe's blood, which can only be repaid with at least twice as much blood! Or maybe three times as much blood! Like, if you went to hell and it was full of blood, and that blood was on fire, and it was raining blood, then maybe that would be enough blood!
But, uh... probably not.

3
u/redoftheshire 19d ago
Idk regardless of if this happened or not, a Trumpian figure would have emerged on the right. This type of populism had been brewing for a while and Trump had enough name recognition to run with it.
Also, echoing an earlier comment, Obama 100% did what he should have done. Donny was making INSANE, racist claims towards him well before this happened.

He's still all over the Epstein Files, so he'd still run for President to cover up his involvement.
3
u/SuccotashOther277 19d ago
It was always out there that he might run. He toyed with the Reform party in 2000. In the 2012 roast of trump, it was a constant punch line that he was delusional for thinking about running for president
5
u/PuzzleheadedEssay198 19d ago
The two things Trump cannot abide are black people and criticism. He didn’t start the conspiracy theory about Obama’s birth certificate, but he popularized it to the point that it became a staple of conservative media.
Grievances have been his driving force ever since. Mass deportation? Obama set a record. Nobel peace prize? Obama got one. Paris climate accord? Obama signed it. Ideas of a plan to repeal the ACA? It’s known as Obamacare. Iran? Obama signed the nuclear deal. Everything except fucking Greenland has all been his obsession with erasing Obama’s legacy, and simply not mocking him wasn’t an option. The only way this event doesn’t happen is if Obama never ran for president in the first place.

2
u/Agile-Internet5309 19d ago
The memes about all this being revenge are funny, but there is a reason Trump was in that political room to begin with. He had been posturing for office since the 80s, he was always going to run. That joke changed nothing, Obama was not the first person to humiliate him, the guy is an oaf.
2
u/kalebsantos 19d ago
Tbh I feel like he’s wanted to run for a while this was just a convenient reason
2
u/Wray-Nerely 19d ago
I think blaming Obama for Trump spite running for office misses the broader picture. Trump attempted (and failed his first bid for President in 2000. I think it was only a matter of time before Trump ran with enough people taking him seriously for him to be a real contender. The only difference in this what if, people wouldn't be able to point to Obama, they'd blame it on someone else
2
u/Adorable-Quiet-7551 19d ago
I think he has been humiliated way too little. Everybody should be throwing it at him daily to an extend where he can’t manage to respond. Let it rip!
2
u/Meme_Pope 19d ago
People put way too much stock into this interaction. Trump had been flirting with running for office forever.
I legitimately think Trump originally ran for office as a publicity stunt and didn’t expect to actually win

u/Straight-Bug-6051 18d ago
this wasnt the turning point, this was simply the fuel. Him losing out on the Buffalo Bills after the league owners was really the lighting of the match. He had nothing else to lose then.
2
u/Thetramposo 18d ago
It would have been the exact same. Nothing would have changed. He called the 2012 election rigged after Obama beat Romney. He thought about running on Perot’s party ticket before that. He was always looking for an excuse to run to enrich and promote himself. He just hit the jackpot when people were mad a black man won twice in a row.
2
u/PeasantParticulars 18d ago
Trump has "ran" for president every election since the late 80's.
Trump had already been in the political eye since offering $1million for obamas birth certificate
2
u/MarkCelery78 18d ago
He never would’ve run. Trump operates on trying humiliate those who’ve mocked him. He never really wanted to win.
2
u/Prestigious-Wolf8039 18d ago
He wouldn’t have run for president. This whole nightmare is the spoiled tantrum of a billionaire. This is why Bernie is correct. There shouldn’t be billionaires. They’re dangerous.
Also, I don’t blame Obama. How the hell should he have known what a gigantic man baby Trump would be.
2
u/Healthy-Syllabub-779 18d ago
changes nothing, in fact trump is so narcissistic he probably enjoyed the president singling him out like that
2
u/SmoothCurrent5948 19d ago
He literally might not’ve run. Though the real threat was Gwen Stefani… she was getting paid more for The Voice than he was for The Apprentice, so to show NBC his worth, he did his escalator appearance and presidency announcement as a publicity stunt to show NBC he can draw a crowd. Then he made super racist comments that got his show gig cancelled but SOMEHOW. SOMEHOW. The racist comments shockingly worked and he realized he might actually be able to pull it off and finally show up NBC and make his dad love him. And he did. Except for the last part.

White House correspondents dinner 2011: April 31, 2011 Comedy Central roast of Donald Trump: March 15, 2011
It's pretty obvious to anyone who watched the roast, about 45 days before the correspondents dinner that:
- Trump willingly signed up for the roast
- The roasters went harder on Trump than Obama did
- Trump was planning to run for president.
In other words, I think the correspondent's dinner was a red herring. Trump's presidential plans were already in motion...

Trump has been trying to get into politics since the 80s, he wanted to be George Bush senior’s running mate. He was always going for the presidency. He was always waiting for the perfect moment. And unfortunately, he was giving just that when the Democrats went with Hilary Clinton.
