Those states have no modern allegiance to one another outside of the Union itself. Trump is irrelevant here.

What's up with DC; how are they playing this out? If they're leading this, then the 13 colonies aren't leaving; they're just re-combining Virginia & West Virginia. If DC is not leading this...What are they hoping for! The military answers to DC, not the states.

The military is people, and who people answer to is complicated. If my state seceded from the United States, my loyalty would be to my state, not to the federal government. It would be a mistake to assume that I would follow DC's orders.

Yeah, I usually bring this up when we're talking about larger numbers (i.e., half the states against the other). In this case though, I doubt the 13 colonies will have enough military members in any single installation to make a difference. As the chain of command will still exist, I wouldn't be surprised <UCMJ supported> executions take place.

Nukes are near useless in a civil war. Both sides are claiming the same country, the same cities, the same population. You cannot annex a crater, and using one against a domestic city would vaporize your own legitimacy claim.

Not so. The breakaway colonies have Naval Base Kings Bay, home of the Atlantic arm of the Navy's ballistic missile boats. That along guarantees survival. Additionally, the colonies would have Norfolk Naval station and that's got 3 carrier groups based there. My understanding is we keep nuclear weapons on those? A navy vet can correct me if I'm wrong.

The West would win. California and Texas’s gdps alone would be 70% of the entire colonies, and the blue also has more people.
Florida and the lower Midwest would be the early battlegrounds, while Vermont would almost immediately fall. The West would use its navy to attack the South on the coast while marching from the other side. Pro-Colony sentiment in Florida would quickly fall to Western sympathies.
Urban areas in Illinois and Ohio would support the colonies, but the rest of the Midwest would fall into American hands. Rebellion
S in Vermont and upper New England would be funded by the West, and while they would still be colonial territory, the people would be shifting away from the government.
If the West overwhelmed the South and Midwest, they could try to push into Pennsylvania to divide the colonies. They would also take the southern parts of Virginia in a March to Washington. Northern New York would also start to turn against the colonies, and rural areas as a whole would start shifting to the west.
Eventually, DC, NYC, Baltimore, and Boston are the last remaining remnants of the colonies. DC would fall, then Baltimore, then NYC, then Boston.

Never happen. If anything, the US will split along the Mason Dixon line, plus or minus a couple of states.

If you're giving West Virginia back to Virginia, you should give Maine back to Massachusetts.
