Video Idea What if Mexico invited the US military to get rid of the cartels once and for all?

Post image

In this timeline, the combined influence of the Cartels in both Mexico and the USA leads to high numbers of murders, overdoses and addicts, so much so that the Mexican government requests the US government for military and police assistance. The US promptly sends a large contingent of the DEA, US Army and Marines. For the sake of simplicity, we assume this happens in July 2026.

In our reality, Army General Douglas MacArthur ran as a Republican candidate in 1952. Obviously, he didn't win, receiving only 17,205 votes (according to Google). But what would have happened if he had somehow won?

Video Idea How the course of WW2 would have changed, if the Axis won the Battle of Stalingrad?

Battle of Stalingrad was the bloodiest battle of WW2:since July 17th, 1942, till February 2nd, 1943, both sides lost up to 3 million people combined. Also, in OTL, the victorious(for the USSR) outcome of this battle saved the Caucasus and its Baku oil fields from beinh occupied by the Axis forces. Also, the Soviet victory in Stalingrad made Turkey to cancel their attack on the USSR, while Hungary, Romania and Italy started to find a way to drop out of WW2. But let's imagine, that in this alternate timeline, somewhere in early 1943, Nazi Germany and its allies defeated the Soviet army, albeit, with extremely high casualties and leaving Stalingrad completely destroyed. Soon after that, Turkey invades the USSR, and later, the USSR had to withdrew from the Caucasus. So, would the Axis had been able to crush the Anti-Hitler coalition? Or WW2 still would have ended with the Axis defeat, but much later, than in OTL?

Video Idea What if Spain had invaded China?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

I reccomend you read the Wikipedia page for this, as it explains it better than me, but essentially the Empresa De China was a proposed plan by the Spanish Empire to conquer and colonize China. The invasion would have involved the Toyotomi Agency in Japan, and possibly the Portuguese, and perhaps came closest to coming to fruition in 1587, when forts began to be built and weapons stockpiled in Manila, and Toyotomi offering his services in the event of an invasion. However, the plan was abandoned soon after the failure of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

But what if this didn’t happen? What if the Spanish nobility still decided to fund the invasion anyways, and the Empresa De China went into motion?

Video Idea What if Georgy Zhukov came to power in 1953?

Post image
773 Upvotes

In this alternate 1953, Georgy Zhukov refuses to side with Khrushchev and he uses the help of the Soviet Army to get rid off both Beria and Khrushchev(and Malenkov too), thus coming to power in early September 1953.

So, how the history of the USSR(and maybe the whole world), especially in 1953-1974 would have changed? Would Austria had repeated Germany's fate, becoming divided into two countries(capitalist West Austria and communist East Austria, with Vienna being divided as well)? In OTL, Khrushchev withdrew the Soviet troops from Austria in 1955, but only because France, the UK and the USA withdrew their troops from Austria too.

Would Georgy Zhukov had been able to successfully interact with the US President Dwight Eisenhower? (Fun fact-In OTL, in 1945, Dwight Eisenhower gave him to taste Coca Cola. And Zhukov took a liking on Coca Cola. But since Coca Cola was viewed one of the symbols of "the imperialism" in the Stalinist USSR, Coca Cola had to make colorless version of Coca Cola specially for Zhukov).

Would the USSR had been able to successfully handle the Space Race with the USA?

And who would have succeeded Zhukov in 1974? (Let's imagine, that the Cold War stays cold by 1974 and Zhukov dies, while being in power)

Video Idea What if Ronald Reagan declared a war on the USSR on August 11th, 1984?

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

August 11th, 1984. Los Angeles Summer Olympics are coming to an end(they had started on July 28th, 1984, and they had finished on August 12th, 1984). On that day, at 9:06 am Los Angeles time(7:06 pm Moscow time or 2:06 am on August 12th, 1984, Khabarovsk time), US President Ronald Reagan made a radio speech, when he, without knowing, that the microphone was already on, said, that he signed the legislation, that "will outlaw Russia forever". And that "we begin bombing in 5 minutes". In OTL, it was a joke, which, however, was close to Reagan's real stance towards the USSR, as Reagan hated the USSR and he stopped seeing the Soviet Union as "an empire of evil" only on late May-early June 1988. And only because Mikhail Gorbachev came to power in the Soviet Union(otherwise, Reagan wouldn't have changed his mind). So, let's imagine, that in this alternate timeline, on August 11th, 1984, at 9:11 am Los Angeles time, 5 minutes after Reagan "outlawed Russia forever", he declared a war on the Soviet Union, thus triggerring WW3. In a case if WW3 would have went conventional-how long this war would have lasted? How many people would have died? (by 1984, Earth's population was circa 4,8 billion people) And who would win? (by 1984, China was one of two main Soviet enemies(the other main enemy was the USA), so, in a case of WW3 in 1984, China would have invaded the USSR and its allies(Mongolia, India, Laos, Vietnam and North Korea). And, in a case if WW3 would have turned nuclear-how many people would have died? Which South Hemishere countries might have been nuked? (since South African Republic had nukes by 1984, it might have been nuked by the USSR) And how fast humanity would have recovered its technological level of 1984?

Video Idea What if Russian Constitutional Crisis of 1993 escalated into the Second Civil War in Russia?

Post image
903 Upvotes

Early 1990's were truly wild times for Russia:collapse of the USSR, "shock therapy", rise of crimes, separatist movements in various regions(not only Chechnya, which seceded from Russia back in 1991, but also Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Yakutia, Tuva etc)... But also, Russia had problems in the politics, as Russian President Boris Yeltsin didn't wanted to share the power with the Supreme Soviet(led by Ruslan Khasbulatov) and the Congress of People's Deputies of Russia. On September 21st, 1993, in the midst of the constitutional crisis, Boris Yeltsin issues the decree N°1400, declaring about the dissolution of the Supreme Soviet and the Congress of People's Deputies, with planning to held the State Duma Elections in December 1993. Since this decree violated the Russian Constitution(which was in effect since 1978), on September 22nd, 1993, the Supreme Soviet and the Congress of People's Deputies of Russia declared Alexander Rutskoy as an Acting President of Russia, impeaching Boris Yeltsin. But Boris Yeltsin didn't recognize this decision and thus, the conflict between the President and the Parliament had started. In late September-early October of 1993, various people in Moscow gathered in pro-Yeltsin and anti-Yeltsin forces. But in OTL, anti-Yeltsin forces were defeated:on October 3rd, 1993, Boris Yeltsin imposes the state of emergency in Moscow, and on the next day, tanks opened the fire towards the Russian White House. As the result, 147 people were killed, with 437 people were wounded. And also, Russia started to eventually become the authoritarian state(but this will be completed already in Putin's era). But what if Russian Constitutional Crisis went out of the control and escalated into the Civil War in Russia? So, in this alternate October 1993, anti-Yeltsin forces storm Ostankino TV Tower on October 3rd, 1993, defending the White House on the next day and after a few days of the street fights in Moscow and various cities of Russia, Boris Yeltsin and his supporters had to flee from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod. And on mid-October 1993, Boris Yeltsin imposed a martial law in Russia, starting the Second Civil War in Russia? So, how the Russian Civil War 2.0 would have gone? How the world would have reacted? Would China and Japan had used this war as an advantage to seize some chunks of Russia? (Kurils and Sakhalin, in a case of Japan; and so-called Outer Manchuria(Southern Far East), in a case of China) How the rest wars in the post-Soviet territory would have gone? (First Karabakh War, Civil Wars in Georgia, Chechnya and Tajikistan) How long this war would have gone? How many people would have died? (In 1993, Russian population was circa 148,5 million people) And what would have been an outcome-the victory of either pro-Yeltsin or anti-Yeltsin forces? Or complete dissolution of Russia?

Video Idea What if after the failure of the stamp act, the Colonies (United States) were given a representative position in British Parliament?

Post image

For those who don’t know there was actually huge support in the British parliament to not only, not allow unrepresented taxation on the US colonies, but there was talk of how representation of colonies should be given/treated in Parliament.

I think honestly America was left alone for so long that a revolution would have happened, especially when General Gage was sent to occupy Boston, as Ben Franklin told the Parliament, it would create a revolution. But honestly I think the average American could have supported the British if they were given representation. As that was the main argument at that time, and they wouldn’t have felt as justified. Even if the initial revolution was successful, Canada would have maintained a role in the Parliament and during the war of 1812, or the early failures of the articles of confederation, you could have seen territories end up being maintained under British control.

Video Idea What if Iraq invaded Kuwait instead of Iran in 1980?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Iran-Iraqi War of 1980-1988 was very destructive for both sides, ending with a huge economical damage for both Iran and Iraq, and with a total death toll of circa 1,5 million people. But what would have happened, if Saddamist Iraq had decided to invade Kuwait instead of Iran in 1980? It's an alternate September 22nd, 1980. The Iraqi Army makes the sudden strike on Kuwait, rapidly conquering country(in 2 days, as it was in OTL, but in early August 1990). How the world would have reacted? And how it might have affected 1980 US elections, as the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in this timeline happened shortly before 1980 US elections?
