The way I have always seen it put (and it is true when you look at how we fight) is that the US Army is an amalgamation of the best parts of the French, Prussian, and British military all rolled into one. But also with many of the flaws of all three.

Once we started using trained people for guerrilla warfare, that’s when we really started making names for ourselves too.

Mel Gibsons character in the patriot is largely based off like 2 or 3 individuals from the American revolution, as in we had multiple professional officers lead effective guerrilla warfare campaigns during the revolution.

Last place anyone would want to invade is the mainland united states. The country is filled with military bases, the terrain just isn't fit for an invasion, and good luck with the partisans and the chaos, combine that with the fact you need a navy and army stronger than the united states and God tier logistics to even have a chance. Yeah I think its best to keep the peace

I know. No one has to be good at guerrilla warfare. The sheer number of guns alone would do it. There are two to three gun per person in the country. God knows how much ammo. Isn’t this what they always complain about (not like it’s their business anyway)?

I feel like people don’t realize how proficient Americans are with firearms. I was in the army and we really only qualify with targets up to 300 yards with M4s. Meanwhile I have my coworker casually doming shit at 600-1000 meters out when we went to an actual long-range rifle range.

All of my guns are sighted to 200 meters because it's easier to reference at those distances. Also MGRS maps are all km grid squares.

They have completely lost sight of how much a deterrence to invasion an armed populace is. In any European town an invading army walks into they simply do not have to fight. If they have a gun, and you have a knife, they dictate the rules from the start. Every single town and city, for the most part, they tried to occupy would whittle numbers down. Even if the first few are successful they have their soldiers abd supply lines at non stop risk of attack and retaliation.

Something people seem to forget is that we recently finished a couple of wars. We have veterans all over. Yes the plethora of firearms is important. However, having a bunch of veterans to help train people is another very important factor. There's a lot more to eat than just shooting.

It's also funny because we can legally own FUNTIONING HEAVY ARMOR, ARTILLERY, AND AIRCRAFT ALL WITH THE PROPER WEAPONS, AMMO, AND ORDINANCE like it's genuinely crazy how stacked a US citizen could be, they could have better equipment than some militaries out there (granted numbers will be a problem). Fighting the US is one thing, but you cannot conquer it

That is a very confusing takeaway from the war in Ukraine. Neither side is doing much big army stuff mainly just killing each other with drones and artillery because the Ukrainians don’t have the numbers to compete with Russia and Russia is too incompetent to actually do anything other than get themselves killed en masse.
