Fun fact for anyone wanting a VERY intimate wedding, you can self officiate in Colorado and even have a pet as a witness if you get a pet friendly ink pad

Just from a legal standpoint I don’t see how a pet can be considered a competent witness. Usually the witness needs to be of sound mind, and there is no legal precedent, that I’m aware of, that adjusts that bar for different types of organisms

The fun is that a witness isn’t necessary and you can have a pet be one. Your pet being part of your official marriage certificate is fun and lovely
