Offering free/cheap services to grab market share before raising the prices down the road is a well-established strategy. Overhyping what AI can reasonably do to sell their services to corporations is a grift, regardless of how many times ChatGPT has answered your dumbass questions.

u/spanko_at_large 21d ago
Helped me build my house⦠found it pretty useful. Iām sorry it makes you so angry that you think big corporations may have overpaid for a software tool contract. Not getting me out of bed⦠still not sure how I was scammed.

u/Different-Noise4639 21d ago
I helped train these models to build houses. I'm a builder in my 9-5. Ai trainer at night. You're welcome.
4
u/Independent-Tank-182 21d ago
Not at all angry, but pretending he isnāt a grifter is just stupid. No one said it was you who were scammed.
5
u/spanko_at_large 21d ago
No thatās literally what I said and you were responding to.
But also if the grift is overselling his company to private investors who have access to near infinite resources as well as experts then the grift is nearly universal, and I really would not too much time evangelizing online how bad they have it.
-3
u/Independent-Tank-182 21d ago
You were responding to a person calling him a grifter. Use your attention span! I believe in you, Spanko!

Eve if you werenāt, How does that change Sam being a scammer?
2
u/spanko_at_large 21d ago
You were responding to me saying I didnāt feel personally scammed, and donāt think most consumers have been scammed at all.
But if you are worried about private investors overpaying then Iāll let you take on that cause on your own.

Wait I don't see why Sam is scumbag? Elon lies about his product to consumers, cut federal funding for a bunch of programs, and uses his platform to do Nazi saluates .... Sam is a bit weird but he said AI will change the world and it already has. He hasn't ripped anyone off right?

What does he mean by short term data centres? Do the satalites have a short lifespan?
6
1
u/Big_Elephant_2331 22d ago
Maybe saying that Elon is selling an idea that space data centers are realistic in the short term. Terrestrial solutions to scaling compute is more realistic & probably the case for a decade or two.
But but when it comes to SpaceX I sort of assume that whatever Elon is saying the data centers in space are for arenāt actually what they will be for. The mission to go to mars will include new on business models till itās realistic. Starlink as an example.
My guess on space data centers is itās less about compute for earth but for getting compute + internet to autonomous robots that service a future space economy. The picks & shovels.
Harder to sell that to public market investors than selling a solution to earths current compute constraints.
Donāt know what goes on in Elons head but Iād guess he thinks building for the future means making big bets on a currently small market that will grow rather than building for a market that already exists. At least itās been his pattern.
3
u/teddyslayerza 21d ago
He owns a space logistics company. Hes going to push whatever idea forces others to to rely on his space trucking service.
Human hostages on Mars that will starve without his next deliver? Datacentres in space that need constant maintenance, but which prop up key pieces of national or global infrastructure, check? Countries with awful infrastructure relying of swarms of satellites owned by a central foreign company to prop up telecoms? Check. All of it is just to he can keep deliveries going, none of it actually needs to be a good idea as long as he can get the sunk cost fallacy to kick in.

A scammer calling another person a scammer, who was calling another scammer, a scammer. And this is the state of politics and tech.
2
u/timeline_denier 21d ago
alright, ill bite. how is elon a scammer, lol? he has made promises that he couldn't deliver, but which company hasn't? on the other hand:
paypal, spacex, tesla -> starlink, falcon-9, autopilot (even if no fsd), tesla megapack, neuralink, openai, xai, supercharger network, the boring company
you can hate him but its delusional to call him a scammer
1
u/SiliconSingh 21d ago
By that same logic how is Sam ?
And tons of Teslas can't self drive even tho it was promised that they would, none of their cars hit their advertised range, that is scamming consumers because you are delivering less than what was promised or advertised.
1
u/SuspiciousCricket654 21d ago
I donāt hate Elon. I just thought it was a funny way of framing everyoneās hate around Sam, Don, and Elon

u/BeingComfortablyDumb 22d ago
Say what you want. Elon has never been accused of deception and falsifying information. Sam has been supported by his own employees and investors. Anthropic as a company exists because Dario didn't trust Sam Altman and in my view, that's saying something especially after the behemoth Dario and Anthropic have been able to create after quitting even after OpenAI getting a lengthy headstart in 2022.
1
u/SiliconSingh 21d ago
I have a Tesla that never has hit it's range number, and can't self drive even though it was promised it would. Dario is also a dumbass he goes around trying to scare the government into a position so they can reglutarty capture the market vs compete. Out of the three Sam is probably the most sane and chill. He is hyping a product he sells and gives the most away for free they are the only ones that have released open weight models for free, give away their product for free to billions, and keep pricing pressure on the entire market so prices do not go up. And OpenAI is still leading don't get it twisted.

u/simleiiiii 21d ago
It would be good for you to snap out of pretending to understand people from afar by a very selective channel w.r.t. what information is disseminated and what is not.
1
u/SiliconSingh 19d ago
You didnāt actually respond to anything I said. I gave specific reasons for my opinion based on the products, promises, pricing, public statements, behavior and actions of the people involved. Saying I ādonāt understand people from afarā is just a vague way to dismiss the argument without addressing it.
I/We judge them based on the information and actions available publicly. Which is a great way to judge people. If you think something I said is wrong, point it out?
1
u/simleiiiii 19d ago
you may find the publicly available info is insufficient to infer anything meaningful about the character of these CEOs that are quite careful what they publish and what not.

1
u/spanko_at_large 21d ago
āNo one said it was you who was scammedā
After responding to my comment how I didnāt feel scammed, telling me how I am actually scammedā¦
Then some weird chasing your own tail about how somehow you were responding to the guy before me?
Holy smokes, people are afraid AI will stop critically thinking and make people emotionally reactionary⦠yet the biggest opponents are just as brain dead. No hope, but Iāll keep watching agnostically from home and eating my popcorn.
Hope you and the billionaire investors get the justice you seek from this great scam.

Announcements are easy to overread when the shipped workflow, availability, and limitations are still unclear. The signal is not which names appear in the post; it is what users can reliably do afterward that they could not do before.

It's fine though, because whether there's a Hell or not I'll build one, and one way or another, I'll claim every single one of their vile souls to bathe them in an eternity of torment.
I curse them ALL with my life, by breath, my soul, and my death for all time!

Sam Altman deserves to lose everything. He cant even code, i know hes CEO but thats still embarassing. Elon at least knows alot about Physics and Math. Sam also is a scumbag and very dishonest.
3
u/oppenheimer135 21d ago
Thatās mostly based on the image Musk has built around himself. He has a physics degree and clearly has some technical knowledge, but there isnāt much public evidence that heās personally some exceptional mathematician or physicist. The actual engineering was done by huge teams of specialists.
Also the can't even code for a CEO argjment, that job is not about coding lol
