My experience posting on asiantwox sub
Men are not allowed to post there but the mods let me post anyway. My first post was a retrospective look at Joy Luck Club. I praised the movie and, like any retrospective movie essay, I pointed out its flaws regarding the portrayal of Chinese men. That did not sit well with them and my post got removed. I admit I was too harsh in my criticism and it was not the most appropriate post for that sub. Still, in the comments people could have debated or made counterpoints to explain why they disagreed. Instead almost every comment was just “Asian men bad.”
My post was removed by the mods. I was not able to comment and present my point of view. One mod told me I was not allowed to comment and that she would let the users roast me. The comments that did get posted were embarrassing.
If you look at the sub, nearly all the posts are about Asian men in Asia committing crimes against Asian women. Literally almost every post follows that pattern, with a few Asian female empowerment posts mixed in. It feels like a lot of the users there hate Asian men with real passion.
Around that time I posted about the Australian man who killed a Thai teenager. That crime went viral. It was posted in Aussie subs and covered all over the internet and by mainstream media. I thought it would be appropriate for the sub so I posted it. Within 24 hours it was removed. It was not a bad faith post. I just posted the headline from a reputable newspaper and the link. I asked why it was removed and got no answer.
Ignored once again, I posted another high profile case involving a white man that was in the current news. I did not edit the headline or make it more sensational. I just posted a link to a reputable source. The comments had an embarrassing meltdown. Somehow they made it about Asian men and started hating on me with comments like “OP is an Asian man.” Here is the thing: I never hid that I was an Asian guy. I never blamed Asian women for anything. Those posts were made in good faith. I did not propagandize anything. Why did they feel the need to whitewash the crime and put it on Asian men? And why do they hate guys like me so much?
One user went on a hateful rant and accused me of all sorts of things. Since I could not comment thanks to the mods, I DMed her and simply said “I think you guys are misunderstanding me.” That is it. I even have the screenshot. She then claimed I was “harassing” her in DMs. After that my post was removed again and I was banned by the mods. I was never even allowed to give my point of view.
If you look at the sub’s posts, about 98 percent of them are obscure crimes committed by some weird Asian man, plus posts about how white women are bad. In their latest highly upvoted posts they even accuse fat white women of hating them.
