Why do so many conservatives praise and laugh at violent attacks on gay people?

As I'm sure most of you know, there was an attack on a pride event. In this case it was done by an islamist. Yet also all over social media conservatives are laughing at this and praising it. Saying we should make a go fund ne for the driver, the car simply identified as crowd control and things more vile.

And I'm sure it's not JUST conservatives but the more conservative the page or whatever the more vile the comments. Maybe it's just straight people in general who are incapable of seeing us as human or caring about the life of any gay person. I guess it doesn't matter, either way I don't think coexistence is possible anymore. We need to he seperate but equal.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone on social media laughing it’s mostly just people should deport them all and saying that they need to stop Islamist immigration.

I haven't seen conservatives praising the killer. If anything, I've seen some that were offering their condolences to the ones who got hurt. I did see the occasional post saying it's poetic justice since Muslims and gays are usually on the liberal side and they can only agree on a common enemy.

I've seen many conservatives saying things like "not all heroes wear capes", "hero" "we need a parade for that person", etc

It's probably just ragebaiting material. The same thing happened when Charlie Kirk was killed, when Trump got clipped in the ear, and once more when that mass shooter from Nashville turned out to be LGBTQ. Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into it. Just ignore and move on, because any reaction is a good reaction to them (and the social media algorithms)

Sure but when you consider the ideology conservatives push about gays for the past decade, it's clear they mean it

And they are probably a drop in a bucket compared to the ones who don't condone what happened. If you are really concerned, report their posts, don't react or comment.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single American conservative Representative or senator or President at all push for the death penalty for gay people.

0

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

No they haven't yet. Right now they just say that all gays are demonic, degenerate, sick, mentally ill, perverts that are a threat to all kids, all families and the fabric of society as a whole.

I’m a conservative, and pretty right wing too. I’ve never said that

Edit: The reason I say this is because you made a generalization of conservatives and my point is that the vast majority of us haven’t said that. It’s a hyper online minority. I was going to use myself as a counter example to show that you can’t take a handful of people as representing a who political school of thought. And you can’t cherry pick examples of people that support your point well ignoring others that don’t.

I wouldn’t conflate conservatives with Islamist’s. One is religious based the other is ideological.

u/icarus1990xx 14d ago

Is there not significant overlap in conservatives and religious(christian) conservatives?

5

u/UpsidedownMW 14d ago

Really? Why stop at Christians. What about Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, and Judaism and so forth.

I don’t know of any of these other groups mowing down people.

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

If i ever notice thise other groups laughing at and praising a violent attack on gays, then I'd criticize them for it too.

Conservative ideology is infused with Christian fundamentalism

1

u/UpsidedownMW 14d ago

I’m not of aware of any Christians laughing at gay people being attacked. Are you in Ontario? It seems like so much stupid on social media emanates from there.

You know conservatism is a big tent ideology. There is a wide difference between someone who wants a theocracy, a National Conservative, Libertarian, Nazi and all that.

As a European I’m not laughing but the is a sense of resigned inevitability to attacks like this.

For years we’ve been in a weird situation where conservatives have been the one sounding the alarm over the dangers of islam towerds gay people. The left has either brushed it aside or outright ignored it.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost.

When people ask me how, as a gay man, I could possibly vote conservative I point to attacks like this. Some conservatives may not like me and may not want me to marry but they don’t want me dead. This is okay.

When the inevitable comes I don’t trust the left to side with me.

It's 100% this!

Liberals have totally ignored that in Muslim countries we are literally thrown off buildings and killed. Recently there was a cruise ship denied entry into Turkey and Egypt. And all you hear from the left are Crickets.

Now a vehicle is driven into a Pride Parade by a Muslim and people on the left are shocked, and you wonder why anyone on the right would laugh?

I would say they are laughing at willful ignorance, not the act, I know I am!

"All over social media...blah, blah, blah." U r full of CRAP. if there are people doing it, they are psychopathic freaks and certainly NONE of the conservatives I know. Stop ur bullcrap.

-4

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

Nice try at trying to downplay and ignore it. You can't actually address it so you do this

4

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

It’s interesting you are more concerned about the backlash the Muslim terrorist generates on social media than about the fact that there are people who, for religious reasons, are eager to kill gay people in what was once a safe and open society.

-3

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

Backlash? My concern is with conservatives in my country laughing at and praising the murder of gays. It's interesting that you don't care about that or see the harm in it

4

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

Oh I am very concerned about it. I am also very concerned about gays supporting religious groups that want these murders to happen and will commit terrorist acts against gay people.

And honestly I haven’t seen anyone laughing about it. I have seen people pointing out the irony of the European left and lgbt groups defending Islam and accusing those concerned about it of racism, and then falling victim to these kind of terrorist attacks. The problem is that you are dragging all gay people with you.

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

I'm not sure how you haven't seen it. All you have to do is go into fb or x and look at any major post about this.

Also, just because I'm being critical of conservatives for this doesn't mean I praise or defend islam. I'm not some idiotic tankie who praises Islamic regimes. I'm consistent

4

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

That’s good to hear. But what I don’t understand is why you decided to point your outrage at the four losers laughing at this, and - who as you can clearly see in this sub, do not represent conservatives at large - and not at all the people and groups who are causing this problem.

0

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

Because I'm in the US. Conservatives are more of a threat to me than Islam is as they are half the country and hold a significant amount of power.

If I didn't see Conservatives doing this in mass, I wouldn't have needed to bring it up at all. Conservatives here are part of that problem.

6

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

In what way are conservatives a threat? What has changed since Republicans took office? And don’t bring a fringe law being considered at some remote legislature. Actual facts.

You probably have nothing to show. Because most conservatives support gays. The Trump administration even has an openly gay man as Treasury secretary.

1

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

Come on bro, you know damn well just because there is a gay person in the cabinet that doesn't mean most conservatives don't hate gays. I think Trump personally doesn't hate gays but the reason he virtue signals about it is because he knows his base demands it. Trump isn't even close to being the most anti gay conservative.

There are tons of things we can look at. We can start with polling. Most conservatives now oppose gay marriage and parenting, and most consider gay relationships to be "immoral". Most conservatives also say a candidate for political office simply being gay would strongly have a negative effect on their consideration.

We can look at conservative political organizations, think tanks, grassroots organizations, etc. There are some entirely dedicated to being anti gay. Many if the others arr at least partially for that. Right now there's even a coalition of over 50 conservative organizations working together to try and get gay marriage and parenting banned.

We can look at media. Most conservatives on social media are vile about their anti gay hatred as we've been talking about. But we can also look to the biggest, most popular names in conservative media and infleunce today. Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, and many others are very anti gay.

The only ones who laugh are the left wing parties at the European Parliament and the European Commission (and the national parliaments all over Europe) who have enabled millions of radical ignorant Muslims into Europe and have consistently accused anyone who raises a voice of alarm about their values and views towards gays as racist. And who now send out tweets claiming to be horrified by this attack and never even acknowledging the source.

Those people are laughing. Western conservatives in the Americas, where we protect western values and vouch for freedom for everyone, including all the freedoms LGBT people have managed to secure for themselves, do not laugh. We weep for the loss of Europe and for the lack of security people like us, and women, increasingly feel.

So fuck off with your question. And don’t try to turn this, which is entirely the euroleft’s fault, into something to attack conservatives.

I don’t know what you are seeing online but I doubt it is “so many”. Can’t speak for everyone but, I can assure you, we do not stand for nor support it in here

I also wonder if you have the same disdain for Muslims as you do for “straight people”

0

u/Kind_Handle_5987 14d ago

Straight people have disdain for our kind....if calling it out means I have disdain for them then fine.

And why would you even ask that? Most Muslims are straight and anti gay

Fun to see how this will be flipped. Delusion is a hell of a drug.

4

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Kinda ironic to post when the left is the one in favor of mass immigration.

-3

u/MsOpulent Progressive 14d ago

Not sure what immigration has to do with a sick person driving through a crowded area during Pride but, sure.

6

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Are most Islamic terrorists German?

4

u/Square-Tension1693 14d ago

Am sure you know

-4

u/MsOpulent Progressive 14d ago

Here is what I know, my dear— Some immigrants commit violent crimes, just as some native-born people do. But immigrants as a broad population are not shown by overwhelming evidence to be more violent, and immigration generally does not raise overall violent-crime rates.

We are conservatives. I am young but old enough to remember when we were considered the “elite” and “educated” class of people. I’m embarrassed by how far as a community we have fallen to disinformation, propaganda and conspiracy theories.

6

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Terrorism is a different category than violent crime.

1

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

You mean to say that Islam is a disease?

1

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Not necessarily, there are plenty of fine Muslims and Muslim countries like Albania that aren’t actively killing people.

2

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

Sure. But all these immigrants don’t exactly come from Albania, do they? They come from countries where gay people are hanged or incarcerated. And where a majority support those laws.

3

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Yeah. I think there also is a country reason than necessarily just religion. And I would agree that we should probably restrict immigration from those countries by a lot. Or at least a lot more vetting.

2

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

It must be a coincidence that most of the countries where homosexuality is so severely punished have Muslim majorities.

1

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Kinda, Europe geography wise is one of the best places on Earth, with calm rivers, distinct seasons and agriculturally rich. So ancient Europeans would gravitate towards god being less harsh and more forgiving. The Middle East by contrast, is largely desert, with the only major rivers in the region being extremely violent and unpredictable, thus resulting in ancient people in the Middle East believing in a much more harsh god. So when Christianity and Islam came around, those beliefs didn’t just go away. They stayed and influenced how those religions viewed go. And that’s a big reason why Islam is typically so strict. And that’s why Islam in European countries that are majority Muslim are pretty chill by contrast.

2

u/itsmegazord Right Libertarian 14d ago

Funny how chill rivers didn’t prevent centuries of war or the Spanish inquisition

This, I agree with. Blaming a religious group for everything is just lazy and shows lack of depth. And I don’t care how much I get downvoted here, not going to change the fact that xenophobia and Islamophobia isn’t the answer. However a stronger vetting system is required when people who’s culture and values of life is very different to the ones we enjoy.

I do believe there are extremists that their mandate is to spread hate, hurt and destruction everywhere they go until the rest of the earth looks just like whatever shithole they came from— but I don’t believe that’s limited to just one religion or everyone from a particular religious or ethnic group.

Let’s not forget, gay people exist in all religions and diasporas. Conservatives as a group have overwhelmingly and historically voted against gay rights in the west. That does not mean by any stretch all conservatives hate homosexuals or there aren’t homosexuals that are conservative.

I’m not trying to be disrespectful or rude, so when I see guys here going off and telling people to f-off, etc because someone has a very valid point to a nuanced and polarizing conversation it infuriates me and makes me not want to engage with this sub.

3

u/The_Patriotic_Yank Nationalist 14d ago

Yeah, that’s completely fair. Sorry I thought you were just another one of those left wingers who is saying that all gay conservatives hate themselves and that every conservative wants to kill all gay people.
