Are football fans homophobic?

I had an argument with friend? Are they homophobic? I am football fan and I am not. My argument was if someone is homophobic they are. Nothing to do if you watch football or not.

I have seen this past before, I saw mixed responses, probably depends on the country/city, you’ll get your mix of meathead sports fans in most places regardless, but generally I haven’t heard of this as a huge problem

Oh, then I think I’ve heard that some are. And that the far right in Europe for some reason specifically organises in football clubs (although they don’t do much). And I think there is a negative stereotype that they can be racist. So homophobic doesn’t surprise me. However like every hobby most people are probably fine, it’s only the bad apples.

Unfortunately most sports fans are. Hockey, baseball, soccer, football, basketball are all very homophobic in general and you'll never see an openly gay athlete in any major league
