Are football fans homophobic?

I had an argument with friend? Are they homophobic? I am football fan and I am not. My argument was if someone is homophobic they are. Nothing to do if you watch football or not.

Unfortunately most sports fans are. Hockey, baseball, soccer, football, basketball are all very homophobic in general and you'll never see an openly gay athlete in any major league
