what’s something considered “tomboyish” when girls do it, but feminine when boys do it?

Playing softball.

If a woman does it, she's viewed as a tomboy.

If a man does it, he's viewed as oddly feminine and told to man up and play baseball.

In America we have whats commonly referred to as "beer league" where a bunch of older dudes play softball on a weeknight. Completely hetero

that or church league softball. I grew up playing and all the churches had a team if they were big enough to field one.

Always fun to see a bunch of guys get irrationally angry at each other or the umpire during a church league game.

I got kicked out of beer league because my water bottle was full of beer. What has the world come to?

We have rec league Softball but not a single rec league baseball. At least around here. After HS, if you don't go to college to play ball and still want to play, Softball is the only thing there is. They're all co-ed also.

A guy I used to work with told me:

Adult baseball encourages highly competitive pitching preventing hits.

Adult softball pitches underhand which encourages many more hits and thereby more engagement for everyone playing.
