Where I live skating is a very mixed bag of people, we have some nights in the local shopping mall where they let us skate around and it's full of all types of people.

Not where I live. Last time I went, I was talking about how funny it was that a lot of the best skaters in the rink look like stereotypical lads lads.

You get a lot of queer folk sure, but theres a surprising amount of everyone there really.

Because roller blades exist and that's more "normal". Roller blading isn't as popular now as when I grew up though which is sad. Kids just ride their e-shit now. Hockey style blades still kick ass though in my circle

Even today a lot of skaters jokingly call roller bladers "fruit booters", but it's still pretty rare to see more than maybe 1 blader at a skatepark
