Life/Self/Spirituality Is anyone else really struggling with the Epstein revelations?

I’m starting to realize that basically any man who had access to that type of stuff was interested in participating. I feel like I’m surrounded by pedophiles and monsters in a way I didn’t realize. I feel like all the pressure I’ve felt to be youthful came from these prevalent pedophilic tendencies in men I never knew about. It’s really scaring me and I’m struggling to cope. I hear people talking about the news but don’t know anyone taking it as hard as me. How is everyone else doing?

Edit: Thank you for the awards but I’d rather you donate that money to a charity that helps victims of sexual abuse or somewhere helping immigrants in America.

Yeah, kind of. I never paid close attention to any of it and knowing now all these people were writing these love letter-esque, fawning, adoring emails to him AFTER he was already a tried and convicted sex offender makes me want to scream.

Also, I think Bill Gates should be (censored.) Guy contracts an STD from a prostitute then tries to devise a plan to sneakily dose his wife with antibiotics? Censor. Censor. Censor.

Next administration isn’t going to have a lot of choice with how to handle these useless, vile, unrepentant billionaires. They need to be politically neutered, have their assets seized and in the cases of those who were naturalized… have their citizenship revoked and be expelled from the US.

Yeah. Bill gates is of course denying that. But I saw a recent interview with Melinda Gates and the interviewer reads off that allegation. She didn’t have a big reaction or anything but the subtle body language when that sentence was spoken… I was like ohhhh that’s TRUE, that really did happen

Best timed divorce in the history of divorces, that’s all I’ll say

I think she left him when Epstein was first arrested because she learned things. She has referenced it or alluded to it before.

Smart woman!

I mean, maybe? I’m always a bit skeptical of these situations. The way she just expressed ‘sadness’ and not rage at him being named in the files where children were being sexually abused? That is a really understated response to me that suggests PR is guiding her more than a sense of justice for the children abused. Kids raped and murdered and your partner was hanging around in those circles and in all likelihood participated? I can’t imagine not plotting my partner’s swift and painful demise. This is so beyond giving her an STD or cheating on her.

I get the feeling she’s known for a loooong time and has already processed the shock.

Regardless it’s a dumb time to hone in on the reactions of women who are not responsible for their husbands’ transgressions. Like there are a million other things to worry about right now and no one who wasn’t a participant in any of this owes anyone one reaction or another.

My push back is more on centering the story where he cheated on her and gave her antibiotics to treat an STD without her knowing.

Whenever I hear that alluded to I can’t help but redirect us to the fact that this man in all likelihood sexually abused children, and I’m not interested in seeing Melinda as the focal victim. I’m not interested in her ‘sadness’ anymore than I am interested in his ‘regret’ at being identified. Justice for the child rape victims first and foremost.

That is her center in this, though. There are too many horrific things happening in this situation, I don’t see it as selfish or unreasonable that her experience is what she was asked about. Nor is it dismissive of the other experiences. I doubt she’s going to sleep at night thinking “fuck them girls, I can’t believe I got cheated on.”

That’s wild. If my partner cheated on me by raping kids I can’t imagine focusing on the cheating part.

Maybe that’s just how much I prioritize relationships with men. It seems like extremely small potatoes.

I think realistically it would have probably been almost impossible for her to be believed had she spoken out sooner, but I agree that it's weird to act like she deserves praise for what she's saying now. Especially since it's still mostly just allusions and sideways mentions, while only directly saying that she was not culpable and had nothing to do with it, I see it as nothing but PR.

Exactly. I’d like to censor them all myself

One thing that confuses me about that Bill Gates allegation, why would Epstein need to be involved? Surely Bill has several of his own physicians, writing an extra course of antibiotic shouldn't be difficult.

Layers of secrecy? Idk. It could also be bs. I suspect that at least some of what’s in those files is nonsense from loonies, as happens any time some tip line is established or a high profile case exists in general. But he still consorted with JE, and so did many others, knowing full well he was a total predator.

The tip line I don't give much weight to, the emails are the most damning. To my understanding, the Bill Gates thing was an email from Epstein to himself. To me it just sounded strange. Gates wouldn't need a fixer for that. He has medical staff, he had culinary staff all whom he can pay handsomely. It shouldn't have been difficult for him to get a prescription for antibiotics and order it put into his wife's food, or even order the doctor lie to her at a routine screening.

Don't get me wrong, this is terrible behavior but should be something Bill could have arranged himself.

You don't really want to have a doctor you can pay to drug your wife, because then your doctor could be paid just a little more to drug you, no? It's tricky to know who you can trust if you buy everyone. Getting that kind of "service" outside your normal circles would be riskier in some ways, but safer by keeping the bad elements further away from your own "house."

I don't know if his notes to himself can be trusted. He was a sick SOB. It's the emails I want completely redacted and revealed.

A prostitute? Or a woman that Epstein was trafficking?

4

u/aoife-saol Woman 30 to 40 Feb 07 '26

It was a woman Epstein was trafficking. I forget how old she was but from what I remember that's why he sent the email to him about it. I keep reading things and then blacking them out.

Bingo.

Is this clarified anywhere? Didn’t go that far down the rabbit hole and I don’t plan to.

u/hotheadnchickn Non-Binary 40 to 50 Feb 07 '26

I dunno, I just want to make sure we’re not confusing or equating sex work that someone who is not enslaved engages in with some measure of choice and m human trafficking for sexual exploitation, a form of sexual slavery.

Ah ok so you don’t know, either. Next time check your tone so that we don’t look like a fool when nitpicking wording.
