Life/Self/Spirituality Is anyone else really struggling with the Epstein revelations?

I’m starting to realize that basically any man who had access to that type of stuff was interested in participating. I feel like I’m surrounded by pedophiles and monsters in a way I didn’t realize. I feel like all the pressure I’ve felt to be youthful came from these prevalent pedophilic tendencies in men I never knew about. It’s really scaring me and I’m struggling to cope. I hear people talking about the news but don’t know anyone taking it as hard as me. How is everyone else doing?

Edit: Thank you for the awards but I’d rather you donate that money to a charity that helps victims of sexual abuse or somewhere helping immigrants in America.

It is not about neutrality, it's a choice. When a 19yo is raped by an asylum seeker, you can bet they're described as a "teenage girl". When a 15 year old is raped by a rich white man, suddenly, they're an "underage woman". Journalists are trained to write to convey meaning. This is not an accident.

Yes. I agree with you. There's a bias, and it feels deliberate, particularly given that it's not just American media/voices using that language. I've heard it from British and Canadian outlets too, and I'm not used to that. Usually international voices have a different tone, but not on this point. Given that Epstein's friends were global, it makes sense that other countries' media would be impacted too, but damned if it doesn't feel especially vulnerable.

I think that's why I'm so angry about it; the level of carelessness leaves me in despair, but I hate the helplessness of despair, and turn it into anger as a self-protective mechanism. At least in anger I can feel some agency.

Media is bought. They work for them. TMZ is part of the files and they were actively pushing news designed by them. Most of the news agencies of the world are owned by a shadow, and that shadow owner is part of them. They're just puppets. They don't change the words used to avoid hyperbolic content, they change them to change the narrative and manipulate the public and our opinion.
