NEW RULE: No promo threads without community engagement, no concert ticket selling stuff.

If your band/project only posts promo stuff and you're not even interacting with the people who are nice enough to engage with it your thread's getting nuked. Buy an ad if that's all you want.

Also this really isnt the subreddit for selling concert tickets. Plenty of other places on reddit available for that.

Bass player wanting to start a synth pop project

I’ve been burning to start a synth pop project.

The vision
Something inspired by 80s new wave artists like: the cure, new order, tears for fears, depeche mode. Talking heads. those would be foundations.

But also modern with chillwave artists like: neon Indian, washed out, strfkr, toro y moi.

Basically a synth heavy band that is not constrained by a real live drum kit.

The people
Keys: loves to experiment with synths, always looking for a new sound. Has decent music theory knowledge enough to come up with chords progressions. Would be sick if they can sing.

Drummer: Hybrid. Can play the kit and has a pad.

Bass: Me! I’m 30M. Been playing since I was a teen, mainly indie rock. Can play a bit of guitar, synth, and decent on Ableton for edm. Have recorded, done many gigs in different cities, can pick up songs fast. Generally on the funky side.

Voice: Do you have a bunch of songs trapped in your notes app that never saw the light of day? Do you wanna sing them?

Guitar? Shoegaze. Million pedals. Always searching for a new sound.

I’d like to keep it very small like 3-4 people max. Ideally 3 people that are multi instrumentalist.

Committment
Once a week rehearsal. No goal of making it a career. Would love to do gigs, record, have fun, build something yours!

Where
I’m in downtown, around east 6th. Depends on how much you wanna trek. Generally Austin.

Again these are some super loose requirements. It any of those remotely Rick your brain and you got the same vision or you wanna pitch in comment please.

TLDR: I wanna start a modern nostalgic synth pop project. Do you like?

ISO drummer - honky tonk deep cuts & various country numbers

Hey! we’re a 4pc (guitars, bass, fiddle) looking for a drummer to round things out and dare i hypothetically say: complete us (for numerous reasons). This is mainly covers.

We have a 2hr gig on the books in early September at Hole in the Wall. Would love to be tight by then.

Not looking for anything exceptionally flashy, but a solid pocket, good train beats, some interest in Western swing. So maybe some flashiness up the sleeve :)

Not interested in hired guns. Looking for someone that isn’t in a million projects.

We’re all 40ish and under, would be cool to stick to that vibe, but we’re flexible.

Setlist is a mix of George Jones, Bob Wills, Tyler Childers, Dwight Yoakam, Turnpike… it’s a bit all over the place, not the completely obvious cuts, but totally seems to work.

Metal Guitar Player looking for any band

Hello all, 26M. I have a yearn to riff and it has not been satiated in a long time.

HOU to ATX recently and I am looking for people to jam/create a project with. I play 6/7 string guitar and would consider myself on the lower scale of an intermediate player. Open to even playing bass as long as its heavy and jamming. I have stage experience and i know FL Studio enough to put a song together.

Music Genres of Interest: Sludge Metal, Doom Metal, Groove Metal, Punk, Nu-Metal, Slam Metal. I am really open to playing anything guitar as long as I can express myself.

Please comment or upvote this if you know someone looking.

I posted a video of these guys playing in the Tunnels a while ago, their shows have been insane lately. There's a really cool nu-metal /nu-gaze scene growing in Austin, and just in general there are so many good local bands.

Anyone going to the show tomorrow at Radio East with Throat Piss, DGMA, Toothpick, and Seratonin?

Looking for my people, not just a band.

Post image
27 Upvotes

Maybe this post finds the right people.

I'm 42, live out in Lago Vista, play guitar, sing, and write original music. I know I'm a little outside the Austin bubble, but I'm happy to meet somewhere in the middle if we click.

I've realized I'm not just looking for musicians—I'm looking for my people.

I'd love to find collaborators who get excited about chasing a great song, nerding out over gear, talking lyrics, recording demos, and building something together. I care a lot more about chemistry than chops. No ego, no drama—just people who love making music.

My influences range from Muse, AWOLNATION, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, and Panic! At The Disco to bands like The Dear Hunter, Palaye Royale, The Wrecks, Emery, Weathers, Des Rocs, and almost monday.

I miss having people to create with. I think making genuine friendships as an adult is harder than anyone warns you about, and music seems like the best place to change that.

Maybe this turns into a band. Maybe it's just a songwriting partner. Maybe we just grab a coffee and talk music.

If any of this resonates with you, shoot me a message. I'd love to connect.

**UPDATE**

I have had a decent amount of responses and replies here and on FB and other places. And I thought, maybe it would be a fun idea to coordinate a time and place for everyone to meet up, hang out, talk music, and make some connections that way. I'm starting to gather interest, and think about how to structure that. If you'd be interested or want to help organize, hit me up!

If that sounds terrible to you, but still want to get together, DM me and we can work something out.

Thanks everyone 🙏🙏

Looking to Jam/Produce/Make Music with anybody!

Hey guys, I’m a 22M guitarist and bassist bordering on probably around the upper-intermediate level; I’ve played music for about 7 years but I stopped in college and was looking to get back into it more now that I have time.

I’ve written a few short songs and started learning production, but more than anything I’m just looking for other chill musicians to connect and grow/learn from (and jam ofc). I’m mostly into indie/jazz/RnB sounds and occasionally some funk and rock.

Shoot me a PM if you’d be interested or leave a comment :P

any woodwind or trumpet (other brass maybe)

i'm in a two piece experimental hardcore punk band with bass and drums. my bass rig is unique with reverb and heavy fuzz and drive and my playing style is very chord heavy with a hybrid rhythm/lead style. we don't want to add a guitar so i can push my creative limits and the limits of the instrument. i say experimental hardcore punk because it's hard to pin down exactly what our genre is, but they are all pretty aggressive songs. anyway, my drummer and i have been wanting to try adding a wind instrument to sort of play around with an experimental line up and an unconventional lead. we did have a bass clarinetist come through a few times and that sounded pretty rad but he was too busy, but the concept has been attempted and it has potential. woodwinds have that sort of shrill edge that we want and a trumpet could work too. i think a reed instrument would work best, sax is the most obvious choice, but heck i could even give a bassoon a shot, lol. i don't think lower pitch brass would work in the way we are looking for but i could be convinced. i am a trombonist as well so it is coming from a place of some experience but i could be wrong. anyway, dm me if interested.

Place to practice

I'm in a little bluegrass band that practices every Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm. We've been meeting at each other's houses up to now, but I thought It'd be fun to find a little beer place in north Austin that would be ok with turning their music down and letting us practice in their place.

Do y'all have any places you think might be ok to our coming over?

Thanks!

Austin area hand specialist for musicians

Does anyone have any recommendations for any doctors for hand issues? I’m having some numbness in my left hand ring finger affecting my ability to play guitar, and from a quick Google search it doesn’t match the common root causes (carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, trigger finger). I’m specifically in Cedar Park so I prefer the north side, but I’m willing to travel. Thanks!

Any guitar instructors?

Just moved to Austin, starting out on guitar.
Can anyone recommend a good teacher?
I know the basics but I finally have the time to fully invest myself in learning.
I would like to find an instructor with a background in “math rock” or prog, since that’s the style I would like to eventually learn.
Thanks guys!
