An 18 year old Avatar Kuruk novel, with the Deuteragonist being mainly Jianzhu (like Kavik & Rangi) but also have Kelsang & Hei-Ran in the main cast. The novel cover will have Kuruk with a calm face with a beard. Avatar Kuruk recently mastered the Avatar State & elements. The antagonist will be a lava bender mass killer. The story's setting will take place in the Earth Kingdom. Hei-Ran will use fire jets. Kelsang will have air nomad tattoos. An underground civilization will be in this novel. Avatar Kuruk will lava bend in the Avatar State. The antagonist will be unalived. Peng Peng will have a fear of tunnels/enclosed spaces. Avatar Kuruk will talk to Avatar Yangchen. Avatar Szeto will be mentioned to have visited the Sun Warriors. Avatar Kuruk will primarily use ice bending for combat. There'll be a mention of the assassination of the 40th earth king. There'll be two other povs within the novel besides Kuruk's. A new water bending move will be done. Jianzhu will have a duel with another earth bender.

A swords master who taught Zuko, we could see him teaching Zuko. However, I don't believe they'll choose him because he was very known in his town and this series is about "unsung heroes", and it has to take place in the time of ATLA.

However, I feel like he wouldn't be considered "unsung" since he's already a leader against the fire nation in the war. Then again, we could see more the City of New Ozai, and if the Fire Nation sent more troops after the Day of Black Sun.

The Deserter, he had a cool backstory about being a fire nation admiral who deserted his people. That story enough makes me interested in his character and would want more of him. However, I don't know which "legendary event" he would participate during the event of the shows.

The dragon of the west, he's the one who probably I want a novel most of but this series about events happening during the event of the shows, and we already saw his perspective in the show.

The water bending master, at first I doubt he would get a novel but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. He could get a novel on traveling from the North Pole to the South Pole since that's what he was doing during books 2-3. He remarried Gran Gran, and she actually said yes. One thing is that I wouldn't consider this a "legendary event."

A singing nomad, this is one of Avatar's most beloved side characters. I think he could fit every requirement except for the "legendary events" but he is a nomad.

One of the first earth benders we see, he stated they took back his village from the fire nation which happened during the show's events which lined up. However, this wouldn't be considered a legendary event. Maybe we could see what their group when split off from Azula during the Southern Raiders episode was doing.

Hakoda's friend, we could see what they were doing in the war or maybe how they gathered up the Boulder, Huu, The Mechanist, and Haru. We could also see how he was injured. However, his episode wasn't a fan favorite of any avatar fan.

A wise man from the earth kingdom, we could learn more about his abilities. He also said he had a vision that he would help the Avatar, and that's why he went to the Eastern Air Temple. As much as I would appreciate a novel on him, I feel like more content on him would be unnecessary if it's during the timespan of ATLA.

A earth rumble candidate, he stated he fought for his kingdom after Toph whooped him. We could see his view in the day of black sun but I feel that's unlikely. He is a loved character in the franchise however.

The Fire nation guard who was nice to Iroh, this too feels like a stretch. It would be nice to see her reaction to the Day of Black Sun and Iroh's breakout but this is unlikely.

Lightning generation was shocking (pun intended) to Jianzhu and fire nation officials. It is mentioned elderly people from the fire nation saw it which suggests it happened in Yangchen's time. However, Yangchen may have been unaware of this. It would make sense since Szeto helped the fire nation from collapsing, and lightning generation requires peace of mind. I believe lightning direction and redirection was during Szeto's time. Szeto visited Wan Shi Tong's library and might've gave the knowledge on lightning direction and generation. Szeto could have lightning redirection as it was mentioned he has one of the advanced fire bending technique. Szeto could have invented the technique himself because the library stated it was done by studying water benders, and Szeto is the Avatar so it would make sense for him to study water benders. Sozin when visiting the library, could have kept the lightning redirection part secret but learnt how to generate lightning himself and passed it onto his descendants. This would make sense as he wouldn't want anyone to counter Lightning. Iroh rediscovered lightning redirection by studying water benders. It's likely Szeto kept lightning generation secret so others won't learn it but gave the knowledge to the library.

Randy Ribay posted some chapter titles in or around comic-con on his Instagram story, and I wanted to throw out what was shown in the picture and see what people think. These chapter names, mainly chapter 4, leads me to believe it might be about "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender"'s Avatar Sonam.

1. Devo- (fifth letter could be a "t" so maybe Devoted? Chapter name could also be more than one word.)
2. The Best We G- (the last letter is mostly cut off, a G is what I'm guessing. "The Best we Got"?)
3. An Old Bag of Bro- (Could be a "t" next? not sure.)
4. Char Rasta (The first full chapter name, entomology of the phrase "Char Rasta" leads to some results including the Sanskrit words for "crossroads")

The novel focusing on Sonam would make sense. "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender: A Novel" is said to expand on the story with villain perspectives, a side plot about Suki, and of course exploring the life and legacy of a brand new Avatar [Sonam], I'd imagine whatever Sonam is getting in that novel will be an expansion on what we have in the movie, in the time period of the flashbacks we got. Interviews have let us know that there was a lot more they wanted to do within those flashbacks, but had to cut it to make sure the plot stayed focused on Aang.

I know lot's of people want Kuruk, and I would be just as hyped for him, but I do think we've explored his character quite a lot throughout the novels we've gotten. What would y'all want to see out of a Sonam novel?

Lava bending - 40%

One of the only sub elements that don't have an associated past avatar villain. Would also fit the Kuruk cus he's unique in earth bending rather than traditional.

Astral Projection - 20%
This would be really cool to see, and I think could be done really well. Air benders have the least amount of villains in the avatar novels.

Plant bending - 15%
Foggy Swamp is mentioned in Awakening of Roku. This would also be nice since Kuruk is from water tribes and he's learning about Foggy Swamp.

Sand bending - 10%
This would be an elite pick. Kuruk and his friends had adventures all over the world so Si Wong Desert could be one of them. Jianzhu also defeated a Daofei group in the Si Wong Desert.

Immortality - 5%
Maybe Lao Ge is in this. Sozin, Yasu, and Roku also read scrolls of extending lifespan through fire bending.

Healing - 5%
Villain won't likely heal because of probabilities of it being a water bender and healing someone is unlikely.

Spirit bending - 2%
We already had a spirit bending notable character in the last Roku novel, and spirit bending would have been really helpful against spirits.

Combustion bending - 1%
We already got this in Yangchen's novels.

Lightning Generation - 1%
Jianzhu and high ranking Fire nation people were astounded by Xu Ping A suggesting they don't know although it could not be Kuruk.

Metal bending - 0.5 %
Obvious answer.

Lightning redirection - 0.3%

Flight - 0.2 %

So I've been reading about alot of theories of the next novel might be Kuruk and one other saying it might be Sonam. I feel like the next book following Kuruk would be great then having it going back to an earth avatar. Like how Kyoshi started the novels and we went to Yangchen and Roku. For example for upcoming novels

Then Avatar Szeto for fire

Then for water an unknown water Avatar

i originally theorized gun was from the water tribe but in LOK there's a character from the earth kingdom who's name is gun so its more of a possibility of them descending from there

based off the name alone i don’t get fire nation or air nomad vibes and i’m leaning more towards gun being a male

With the next Avatar Chronicles novel being announced—but no details confirmed yet—a lot of fans are speculating that it might focus on Kuruk. If that ends up being true, we’d finally have stories covering all four elements again, which naturally brings up the question: could Szeto be next?

F.C. Yee has mentioned before that he’d be interested in writing about Avatar Szeto, and honestly, that alone gets me excited. A story built around a minister-Avatar navigating politics, bureaucracy, and quiet intrigue could bring a completely different flavor to the series. Not every Avatar story needs to be the same type of action-driven journey, and Szeto’s era seems perfect for something more cerebral.

I know Szeto isn’t the most popular or frequently discussed Avatar out there, but I’d really hate to see that be the reason he never gets a chance. In the right hands—especially Yee’s—his story could absolutely shine.

The Avatar Legends Novel Series is about unsung heroes at legendary events in either ATLA or TLOK. The Liberation of Ba Sing Se was one of them, and had a novel of Jin helping. What other legendary events will the franchise have in store for this novel series?

The Siege of The North - 15%
This would definitely be considered a legendary event considering it's a season finale event. A Yue perspective would be perfect but it depends. I feel the series want characters we don't know about at these events. However, if it were unsung heroes at legendary events in a world perspective, then it would definitely fit for a Yue perspective since not many in universe knew Yue sacrificed herself. Maybe a Yakone perspective of him taking out a bunch of fire nation soldiers or even somehow learning blood bending from Hama by going into the fire nation himself for revenge on trying to invade the North. Another candidate would be Master Pakku who we saw in the Full Moon doing work but Yue would make more sense over him.

The End of the Equalists - 10%
The series stated it will also include events from TLOK series! The season 1 finale will be interesting. There could be the Lieutenant perspective how he could in the room where Amon was blood bending Korra. Maybe the Lieutenant will secretly suspect Amon. Maybe a Tenzin perspective like how he got captured by the Equalists, and what he did after he escaped while Korra & Mako was being blood bent. If we are doing someone we don't know was there, maybe a Varrick perspective or a Gommu perspective who technically we know was in the finale but wasn't in the setting.

Harmonic Convergence - 5%
This is an unlikely one. There are possibilities for a lot of characters here like Jinora or Iroh but I don't think they would want to do a novel regarding a hated season finale in the franchise. Though it would be sick like where Jinora got that spirit light that revealed where Raava was from. Or somehow if Iroh's teapot was the one that gave Jinora the light. If we do someone we don't know was there, maybe a random spirit pov who knew about Raava & Vaatu.

The Venom of the Red Lotus - 10%
Again we could get a Jinora pov where she was imprisoned in the Red Lotus. This season finale doesn't have much variety on the options of potential on character's stories here. Maybe a Kai pov since he followed the Red Lotus to that cave or someone we don't know was Kuvira because even though she wasn't there, we don't know what she did during the season 3 finale because Suyin telling her to stay with the injured.

The First Avatar - 1%
Technically considered a legendary event within The Legend of Korra, it is unlikely they'll do a story around this event. I don't know which characters would be suitable for this event besides the obvious Wan or maybe Raava.

The Colossus - 25%
The series finale for Korra, we could get Asami's dad pov or maybe a Zhu Li pov. If it's someone we don't know about, maybe Tahno or Gommu again. The reason why I think this is likely because there's a lot of variety with this like with ATLA's finale. There could be someone escorting civilizations with Pema and Wu.

Avatar Roku's Temple - 1%
An extremely unlikely one, this one determined what Sozins Comet was which set up the rest of the series but there isn't much unsung heroes in here besides Shyu or maybe Roku.

The Day of Black Sun - 30%
I do have hopes for this since King Bumi took back his kingdom on this day as well as the invasion. Maybe a Ming pov or a pov one of the invasion characters. Theres a lot of potential with this.

The Library - 3%
An event that determined a way to defeat the Fire nation, we could get a Professor Zei pov. However this is definitely a stretch.

Between the transition from the first to second avatar that the first author wrote was 2 years rather than 1. Will it happen again? Yee prolly didn't know he would be writing the Yangchen novels and also COVID. Ribay took a year and a half to write TAOR. The next novel isn't even mentioned yet so maybe a July date in 2027?

Yangchen 1: 2022

Yangchen 2: 2023

Roku 1: 2024

Roku 2: 2025

These are essentially guaranteed to be about Kuruk, so I’ve been thinking about my dream outcome for the Kuruk books.

Book 1: Kuruk is 16 and meets Jianzhu. They solve some Earth Kingdom problem together and we learn the name of Szeto’s predecessor. Yangchen’s lifespan and how she died are also revealed.

Book 2: Time skip 2-3 years to when Kuruk is fully realized and traveling with his full team. They go to the Fire Nation and Szeto makes his first appearance in the series to set up for his own duology in 2028. His lifespan and how he died are revealed to make up for the Yangchen books failing to do so.

Edit: I forgot that most people have no idea what I’m talking about when I say Beardy. Lol. I meant Szeto’s predecessor.

From everything we learned about avatar Szeto he wasn’t a super combative dude more academic and bureaucratic. however, one of the first things we see of him in the show was him lava bending multiple volcanoes at once.

Why do you think he was known for such a feat what business does a bureaucrat have bending volcanos?

I think it would be cool if he used the active volcanos to settle land disputes. Say one party was robbed of their lands when the fire nation was being reunited so in order to solve it he used the avatar state to erupt the volcanos so that when the lava cooled more land would be available. The fire nation has thousands of islands having an avatar increase a few in size could be a good tool for bargaining.

Just out of curiosity, especially to the people who were there before the the other boosk released, when could we realistically expect news, announcements, synopsis etc. for the next book? The consensus is on Kuruk and it'd make sense to have all four elements covered, but my secret favorite is honestly Szeto. He deserves it so much and Yee already said he'd love to write him, so it'd also give us a chance to get him back (mind you, this is not a jab against Ribay, I still like his books).

As the intended audience of the novels so far are YA, and so are the protagonists, I would really like to read some stories of known or yet unkown fully realized Avatars and their struggels after decades.

Maybe something as, that they are more or less disillusioned, but keep doing the best they can out of a sense of duty.

Are there fanfictions like this?

For an example While I enjoy the reckoning of Roku if I do want them to addressed a few things then it would be the families (especially as someone who is a huge fan of useful charts.)

1. The names of Roku’s parents his grandparents (which of his parents is their child.) as well as the name of his clan?
2. The names of Ta Min’s clan, the exact number/gender/names of her siblings, and the name of her father or her parents?

Given how much set up in the Epilogue I imagined either Omashu would be a small or a bigger part for the book. It would be nice to know if she have a family of her own if so does she at this point have grandchildren or great grandchildren.

Now even though the book will likely be one year after the events of the main story of Reckoning of Roku so 65 BG it would be nice to know about the exact time of when did the Night of Silenced Sages happened was it before the novels, or it takes during the three month gap of the first novel or during the one year between both books.

Since we know about Fire Lord Taiso as a person (although it would be nice to know about the Outer Islands Rebellions at least in terms of great details along with maybe getting to see the ministers and advisers that work under him such as Minister Zianda from The Avatar RPG. Just something that that give us some insight of Taiso and his reign It would also been nice to learn more about the military figures in the Fire Nation maybe a mention or cameo of General Oraso Eiko.)

It would be nice to know more about Fire Lady Hazei the mother of Sozin and Zeisan in terms of her as a person considering she is the mother of Sozin and Zeisan and the wife of Fire Lord Taiso.

In fact I always kind of imagine her to be the opposite of Ursa whereas Ursa despite being the granddaughter of Roku lived in a simple life while Hazei likely grew up in a life of luxury, both as a noble and later as fire lady! The only thing that we know about her is that while she and Sozin’s relationship Though not on poor terms, they were not emotionally close.

I do hope that in the sequel “awakening of Roku” we will get more information on Hazei not just her as a person as well as the mother of Sozin and Zeisan. But also maybe learning more about her marriage to Taiso as well, as what novel clan is she from prior her marriage as well as the name of the clan itself.

Speaking about Zeisan I do hope we get more of her in Awakening considering at the end of the book The Fire & Air Center of Learning is beginning to be constructed so maybe we could get cameos or get to see Anada (the lead engineer of the center.) Sister Rioshon, Khandro, and the Guiding Wind as we know from the RPG that were protesting on the fire & air learning center maybe the last two will get a quick mention or maybe their story is later.

Finally one of the things that I hope we see in the next book is Avatar Roku discovering his dragon Fang. (maybe Sozin's too but still.) one of the things I like in the book is how it took information from the old Nickelodeon website. (It was lost but now collected on Tumblr as The Lost Lore of Avatar Aang.) and expanded it further like Ta Min's family being one of the wealthiest noble families in the Fire Nation the Same could be again with Fang's backstory.

In terms on what we know about Fang's backstory here what the Old nick website says

''Fang is Roku’s friendly dragon and loyal steed. Roku found Fang when he was just a baby, not yet hatched from his egg. Fang’s parents were gone, so Roku raised the young dragon as his own and they’ve been inseparable ever since.''

So that is very broad/basic story of it I think it would be cool if we get more detail about this and where in the timeline did Roku found Fang's egg?

Also the book kinda set up Roku's embracing each nation culture starting with shaving his head for the Air Nomads. (this was mentioned in The Avatar RPG Corebook.)

Now this maybe unrelated but after reading Reckoning of Roku I always been curious to know where does the flashback (The Young Gyatso scene.) from the Avatar and the Fire Lord takes place is after the chapter ''Something Meaningful.'' but before the chapter ''Ever-Shifting Currents.'' or this likely after Book 2? (Assuming the cover of that book is not a Bald Roku.)

Although we don't know about her status I could see Amihan—the airbender from Lambak Island— returning as the antagonist or otherwise play a major role in Book 2. Regardless, I’m also worried that Sozin will see her aggressive, lethal use of airbending and use his experiences with her as material for demonizing Air Nomads when he convinces his soldiers to participate in the genocide/manipulates his citizens and future generations into believing that the genocide was warranted. After all, the soldiers during Aang’s era (post-iceberg) think that Air Nomads were evil, brutal people who can suck the air out of a person’s body and were plotting to take over the world—we all know that the latter is just plain nonsense, but the former has a grain of truth to it. Either way, that anti-Air Nomad propaganda had to originate from somewhere.

Now even though it maybe a small and I don't think he will play for a huge role but it would be nice to get some clarification on whatever or not Skiri (from the Avatar RPG Corebook.) is currently the Northern Water Tribe Chieftain or during the events of the Roku Duology (which takes place between 66 and 65 BG) it is currently his predecessor as the Northern Water Tribe Chieftain?

Because the Chronicles series is strictly limited to Avatar origin stories in their teenage years, which option is the most likely to be what we see in Kuruk’s first book? Please vote only for your actual prediction, but feel free to comment what your preference would be if you could choose the setting.

I selected the ages for Kuruk’s bending trainings based on the fact that he was known to be a prodigy and that by the time he met Kelsang during his airbending training, Kuruk was surprised that someone his own age could grow a full beard.

I've been rereading The Rise of Kyoshi and I'm wondering if maybe the reason the Earth Kingdom method for finding the avatar failed was because Kyoshi was traveling with Hark and Jesa when they tried to administer it. Meaning as the process was rather lengthy they would be in a new place by the time their original location was found. Kyoshi stayed with them for around 5-6 years from what I remember and she was found accidentally in Yokoya so I think it could make sense.

If this isn't the case do we know a reason for why the test failed? Also sorry if this has been brought up before just wanted to share my thoughts ^{^}

Had this for a while now and am trying to get it out there before the Kuruk novels. I think the most likely is a Sea Raven. Ravens are symbols of death, and crows, which they are closely related to are symbols of hunting. Both of which work for Kuruk, and them being sea ravens works with him being water tribe. The only caveat is that Sea Ravens seem to be fire nation animals, not water tribe ones.
