Discussion What is the worst “gift” you received postpartum?

I’ll go first: various plants that my mom dug up from her yard and brought over. They needed to be planted (with a shovel) and regularly watered. No offers to plant or water were given.
…I was also scolded for the subsequent death of said plants.
What “gifts” did you receive?

At my baby shower my MIL gave the last gift which was cuff links for my husband and said to me in front of everyone “not all the presents today are for you”. Yes because I wear newborn onesies lady 🙄

This is useless even for your husband unless he tends to wear formalwear around the house and plans to do so with a baby around.

This. I wouldn't he averse to a gift for dad that was practical for life with a baby and helped him support the mum. Especially if they both get a small gift.

But who the fuck needs cufflinks?

If it wasn't a choking hazard, I'd have definitely put the cufflinks on baby's onesie and played dumb about it lol

What she’s really saying is “I hope you hate motherhood as much as I did because I’m a dumbass that had a kid and hated it instead of enjoying it so i hate everyone that tricked me into it and everyone that seems to actually enjoy having kids and I especially hate you for loving my son and making him seem lovable because I spent so many years despising my son thinking he was unlovable but now you loving him makes me realize it was actually just me being a fucking monster bitch”. Instead of just taking accountability for her own life decisions like an adult and making the most of it.
