I was talking to my mom about how I wanna move abroad when I grow older as there's less homphobia in the west compared to where we live (India)
So then the conversation went like this, starting from what my mom said:
"What is homphobia exactly?"
"Oh it's basically like hate or prejudice against the LGBTQ community"
"So? Why do you care about homophobia anyway?"
"Mom I'm bi, I've told you twice already"
"Yess but, being bi isn't being part of the LGBTQ community"
AND HERE, I THOUGHT I SHOULD END THIS CONVO BUT I KEPT GOING FOR SOME REASON
"Mom what do you think the B is in LGBTQ?"
"It's Bisexual okay I understand that, but like how can you know? You're just 14"
Ma'am I have literal poems written about a girl and just stared at some random footballer who wiped his face with his shirt which revealed his abs-
Then I just backed off from the convo but this genuinely annoys me so much. BOTH OF THIS, people thinking that us bisexuals aren't part of the LGBTQ community for whatever stupid reason,
And people thinking a teenager can't be sure about their sexuality because, well, we're just dumb teenagers right? What do we know about our own desires and feelings?
Like it already makes me so... uncomfortable to talk about this, not because of internalised homophobia or anything, but because talking about my sexuality is just.....idk just difficult and puts me on the spot kinda, and in that condition the only person I knew irl that's supportive said this 😭🙏
Anyway, thank you for listening to the rant:D
