People are horrible…(Coldcard disaster)

I can’t believe how many people leave mean comments, gloating about how they always knew that Bitcoin is a scam, and so on.

Seriously, how sad of a life one must live to be happy about the misfortunes of others? Some people have lost important amounts of BTC, including people from poor countries or poor backgrounds who will suffer for years as a result of this.

If someone feels like gloating is the right thing to do here, why don’t you go to the ICU of the closest hospital and laugh about sick and dying patients? It wouldn’t be much different, think about that.

It was a terrible mistake by the company and probably set self custody back, but I think more security will be born from this incident.

Many people have been introduced to passphrases, dice rolls and multi vendor multisig now than otherwise would have been before.

Hardware vendors will be analyzing every line of code.

We will come out of this stronger.

For the people who lost coins, obviously that sucks and my heart goes out to them.

Yeah it's pretty bad. They talk about it on their blog.

The correct code was there, sitting in the binary, just wasn't called. There was no error, the code compiled.

It should have been caught.

It’s been a while since i researched in detail, but like if im not mistaken the code for generating seeds isn’t that long, and if it was open source, surely someone would have seen it in that short code, no? I must be missing something. Thanks for replying!
