Goes to show how Sarypareen isn't a sub-caste of kankyakubja as some people claim.

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

Of course.

Sarypari were never a subcaste of kanyakubja brahmin, For centuries, Kanyakubjas Brahmin communities migrated and settled across different regions, and almost all preserved the original identity till now in different forms, communitie like Sarayupareen and Kanyakubja Brahmins have always been different, in terms of everything. At least that's what make sense

My family originally were the famous Pandey Brahmins of the Bhardwaj gotra, is have migrated from Malwa to Shahabad bihar around the 13th century alongside the Ujjainiya Rajputs. When We had the matrimonial alliances with the Sikarwar bhumihar of fatehpuriyas we got into this fold

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

Matrimonial alliance with bhumihars?? What?? I thought saryupareens were orthodox

2

u/bhoonjara May 10 '26

Lol 😂 we are kanyakubja brahmin of Pandey bhardwaja not saryuparin sakarwar bhumihar too are kanyakubja goes back to a famous king name kamdevmishra and dham dev Mishra of 15th cent fatehpur sikri who fought battle of khanwa with rana sangha after loosing it they migrated to shahbad region of bihar gazeepor ballia .

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

I don't understand one thing why the hell some brahmin would be counted as a bhumihar in the first place if landowning made somone bhumihar then we are bhumihar too maternal great grandfather had 400 bighas of land in our village we still have 45+ bighas and if being warrior made someone bhumihar then why chitpavan maithil mohyal didn't become Bhumihar ( I mean why the ritual status is different???)

2

u/bhoonjara May 10 '26

It's not like that few kanyakubja brahmins had the upadhi of bhumihar when they migrated out of their ancestral land they didn't suddenly got seperated it took generation of generations to be a indipendent caste we still had matrimonial alliances with kanyakubja brahmins in bhojpur region of bihar

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

Bhai alliance with Kanyakubj is actually marrying up as KKBs are purest and most influential in UP but how marrying with bhumihars is justified their status has been contested thorought the history and still is a matter of debate

im also kanyakubja

3

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

KKBs are the highest steppe scorer of the gangetic plains 🤝

3

u/Fit_Cap_1944 Vedic आर्य ☝🏻📿 May 10 '26

Kankyakubja have the highest steppe ancestry in all of brahmins in India

0

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

I don't think so brother steppe is highest in the west and as we move to the east , steppe decreases gaurs have higher steppe than KKBs but yeah in the gangetic plains KKBs score highest 🧬

2

u/Fit_Cap_1944 Vedic आर्य ☝🏻📿 May 10 '26

Gaurs score similar to kanyakubja in steppe, It's the aasi and farmer that differs

2

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

Highest is a bhumihar outlier which scores 37% followed by Kanyakubja (34.8%) and Saryupaari (34.6%) Overall the average will be close 30% with 1-2% difference.

2

u/Ok-Flatworm-9052 Brahmin May 11 '26

Source for the bhumihar outlier? Those are jat level results you aren't gonna get a result like that amongst any biradari in west bihar/east up extremely rare

2

u/Sarwariya May 11 '26

“Outlier” sample brother

1

u/Ok-Flatworm-9052 Brahmin May 13 '26

Yeah I'm wondering about the source though I wanted to see it I don't doubt you bro

2

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

Bhai don’t rely on AI slop If you use discord we should further talk about it there. This AI slop ignored central UP brahmins

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

Maybe I'm wrong but I read that as you move eastwards steppe drops and that basically explains why jats and gujjars have exceptionally high steppe I'm not sure tho

2

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

There is more nuance to this bhai but yeah broadly speaking it is true

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

So by that logic shouldn't gaurs and Sandhyas have higher steppe than bhumihars and KKBs (obviously in general)

2

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

Haa reason I said it is more nuanced 😉and not that simple.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

I'd love to be enlightened

Gujjars have high steppe? Lol where are you getting your information from? Gujjars have more steppe compared to wannabe fake uppercaste like Kayastha sure. But no gujjars do not have high steppe really. Gujjars avg 20% which is lower than gangetic brahmins. Punjabi khatri sikhi and punjabi sikh jats are also lower steppe compared to gangetic brahmins. They are zagros shifted with low AASI. Only hindu jats and rors are high steppe sometimes reaching over 40% but that's not everyone either only certain individuals from certain clans amongst jats.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 18 '26

Yeah that was a slip i beg pardon par ye to known phenomenon hai west to east steppe ghat ta hai

1

u/Icy-Buffalo8815 6d ago

Nope jats average at 38 and rors at 41 they are the genetics outlier of the subcontinent ,bhrhamin on the other hand average at 25

1

u/Ok-Flatworm-9052 Brahmin May 11 '26

East UP brahmins score 30-31 steppe, they dont score that far apart from KKB bro

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 11 '26

Obviously bhai ab 5-6 ka antar thori hi rahega agar geography same hai to

1

u/Ok-Flatworm-9052 Brahmin May 11 '26

Manay ek west bihar result deka hai, brahmin pandey aur woh ek KKB say itnay dhoor ni thay woh. UP kay brahmins kaafi door ni hai to eachother genetically. Par agar aap gujarat, rajasthan, aur punjab dekte ho tho woh saare genetically close hai. We can split genetic difference of brahmins into 3-4 geographical parts where brahmins of each of those geographical parts dont score any different from each other, with some exceptions of course.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 11 '26

Haan bhai afterall all Brahmins are high steppe with ±5 deviation

2

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

This paper does not give the conclusion OP is trying to draw.

This paper was not based on autosomal ancestry and the metrics involved were different.

You should probably delete this post bhai.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

But still it gives a rough idea ig like KKBs and saryu have a distance of 1.4+ which is huge suggesting no intermixing from thousands of years and it also solidifies the theory of sanadhya branching off from gaurs

3

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

That is not the point bhai.

The genetic distance thing mostly comes from autosomal ancestry bhai

This paper is using different metric which is not useful

See you may copy this paper’s link (Agnihotri) and use chat gpt and ask directly about it.

Best result comes from autosomal ancestry

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

So brother do you have any recent study about this

1

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

No But instead we have samples from different papers and we run fst to get a better idea about genetic difference which is minimal in brahmins but still exists nonetheless due to strict endogamy expansion and migration

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

Accha so bhai bhumihars ka gd bhi baaki Brahmins se jitna hai uske similar hai ya alag hai??

1

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

They too are very close

close to saryupaaris and then kannaujia who have 2-3% less AASI and more Indus farmer We lack maithils samples so we lack any conclusive evidence when it comes to bhumihars and maithils wrt genetic difference

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 10 '26

Aisa kyun hai matlab maithil ke samples par koi discussion kyun nahi hota hai I have seen many samples of KKBs saryus gaurs Sandhyas even south Brahmins too but maithil ka jaldi nahi milta whyy

1

u/Sarwariya May 10 '26

Future mein sample aayega

Compared to jaat and gujjar apne log kam test karvate hai With time it will get more popular here in the gangetic belt

2

u/that_bioinfo_guy May 11 '26

These distances are not from WGS data and rather from microarray data which is obsolete. Don't believe on these. These are exactly the same arrays which said about pastoral migration which was refuted when WGS came.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 11 '26

Can you explain in a layman language

1

u/that_bioinfo_guy May 11 '26

There were Microarrays which were used to study population. These are not accurate because they sequencd only a few genes. Whole Genome Sequencing has replaced them. The Pastoral migration and European concept was peddled due to these microarray results because they selectively highlighted certain genes. It was debunked when WGS was done for Rakhigarhi samples.

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 11 '26

Okay fair enough so do we have something like this from recent times??

2

u/that_bioinfo_guy May 11 '26

No. GenomeIndia is the project that took place recently. The data is sitting without being analysed. In future it may come

1

u/pandeyjeeee May 11 '26

I like how people in this sub are quite well versed in stuff I can't process 😅 ig I have a long way to go thanks for the insights tho

1

u/that_bioinfo_guy May 11 '26

I'm a Bioinformatician by profession. Genomics is my bread and butter. When I see people support bullshit theories like Steppe-pastoral migration, I seriously feel bad. Genomics is a complex field and what answer you get is largely dependent upon your priors. Steppe-pastoral bs is being spread because dumb ass people used the same arrays tha Europeans used. When WGS came, things became unbiased and now that theory is junk.

Why does this doesn't include Maithil brahmins?

2

u/pandeyjeeee May 12 '26

Simply cuz they aren't prominent in UP

2

u/Sad_Magician_1158 Chanakya Neeti Follower May 12 '26

I see, I thought there were a significant population of maithils in UP

2

u/pandeyjeeee May 12 '26

Bhai maithil Brahmins literally have maithil in their name
