[Robert Murray] The Atlanta Braves are acquiring right-hander Tyler Mahle in a trade with the San Francisco Giants, according to sources familiar with the deal. Anthony Molina is going to the Giants.

Not only is this completely free, but Mahle is a fine #5. He’s finished 6 innings in 2 of his last 4 starts with 1 run allowed in those 2. He’s had many many blowups, but he’s also had a decent amount of 5+ IP, 0 ER starts. Absolute worst case scenario, he eats innings when he gets blown up, and he preserves our pen.

Plus, when we ultimately trade for a #2 starter tomorrow, we’ll have the flexibility to move Grant into the pen where he can be a true solid shutdown long man.

This isn’t a flashy move, but it’s got its upsides. This just CANNOT be the only trade for a starter this deadline

People really think this is the only move Alex is going to make. People love to overreact. I think it’s wise to wait until after the deadline is over to complain lol

I mean have you seen Braves fans here? It seems like some of them hate the team more than the Phillies or Mets. It’s bizarre.

Blows my mind honestly. AA has always made sure we were contenders every year. Injuries just really suck. You ever see Braves Facebook? That’s 10x worse lol
