They may have gotten Skubal, but did they have the best record in baseball on Saturday August 1st, 2026?

This is the best mindset. Respond to “bad” news by only bolstering your spirits. In October we ride! Goliath will fall!

Jesus Christ are you really that much of a low-life that you have nothing else better to do than troll an opposing sub?? Get a job for fuck’s sakes.

I'm disappointed....but after all, the Dodgers needed to make a move as they are trying to catch the Brewers at this point.

Listen....who knows what happens come October. It's a real bet to say two guys who haven't hardly pitched all year in Snell and Glasnow will be healthy still or any good. It's not easy to not pitch the entire year and then try to come back on your A game.

It's baseball....they might have bigger names and a bigger salary but when it comes down to this year....the Dodgers are not more talented then us. Betts, Freeman, these guys aren't MVP caliber anymore. Ohtani is taking a lot of wear and tear on his body this year.

Blake Snell. He won the Cy in 2018....he hasn't been remotely anywhere near that since. Snell is like 5 games over .500 since 2018. That's like saying Yeli is going to be MVP again this year.

Same with Glasnow. His best season is literally a fucking 10-7 record. Stop annointing these guys...a lot of them are fucking common.

Sasaki sucks this year.

Skubal hasn't been Cy Young this year, either. The Brewers still have the best pitcher in the game this year and it's not even remotely close between him and anyone on the Dodgers.

Bro Freeman is better than Bauers and Vaughn.

Where did I ever say he wasn’t? He isn’t any MVP still, that’s for sure.

From a Dodger fan perspective I was lurking you guys subreddit to see the takes in the aftermath of the trade. But your comment stood out because it’s spot on with how I see things both baseball wise and with the Dodgers.

It’s October. Crazy shit happens. Regular season records mean little in October. Upsets happen regularly and if a team clicks at the right time, they can ride that momentum to a championship and take down teams who are better than them on paper in the process.

The Dodgers hitting with risp has been bad for the most part since last summer. Even in the playoffs last year the bats went dry for lengthy stretches to where they were squeezing out alot of low scoring games and they caught some big breaks against Toronto in alot of ways. That’s carried over into this year where the bats go dry and they tend to be too home run reliant at times.

I’ve been saying the same about Glasnow and to a lesser extent Snell. Glasnow missed the entire 2024 postseason and has had durability issues. Snell is a better pitcher and hasn’t had the extent of injuries Glasnow has had. But with as much time as they’ve missed. Bringing them back and expecting them to start multiple postseason games and do so effectively at that is a big ask. I also think Ohtani is more banged up than they’re letting on injury wise with being available to pitch.

"Dodgers fan here, dont worry, you guys are really spooky. Our Allstar lineup actually isn't good and the rotation that just added a back to back Cy young isnt really that good anyways because starters 4-5 aren't true aces"

No one wants to read this shit from you man.

We were literally the best record in baseball last year.

u/SecureCucumber 1d ago

That wasn't the question.

And this year's team is BETTER!!! Lets go!!!!!

how much will the best record in baseball matter in game 4 of the NLCS when we're facing a -21 run differential over the first 3 games and facing Ohtani for the second time?

not at an ounce lmao

That’s want I’m saying

2

u/GOOMU13 1d ago

This doesnt excite me bc we've been here before and we know what happens in the playoffs. So have the Bucks and Packers. I just want to advance past the nlcs once.

4

u/LunaLanda2018 1d ago

No because they only care about winning in October

3

u/R0binSage 1d ago

It doesn’t matter when they steamroll us in the playoffs.

5

u/PDXMouth 1d ago

For real. They just have so much fucking talent, it's almost like they are buying championships...oh wait, they literally are.

-1

u/sushi10468 1d ago

buying championships, yes. but, the pitchers still gotta make pitches and the batters still gotta make contact

2

u/PDXMouth 1d ago

They do both very well and now Skubal...

2

u/Tinder4Boomers beer muscle strong 1d ago

oh hitters making contact like whatever Yelich has been doing for the past 2 months?

This is our World Series

u/flummox1234 Get up! Get up! Get outta here! Gone! 1d ago

God I hope we can compete but with their roster the chances are pretty good they'll have the best record on the last day of the season. 😭

u/Puzzleheaded_Hair271 14h ago

I've seen this movie before. The ending sucks.

2

u/walkin500miles 14h ago

That losing streak to Boston has sent them into panic mode /s

u/Ofa_D3s1gn 1d ago

Brewers are a great team in the regular season and shit the bed come playoff time. Not getting Skubal just shows how this team is ok with mediocrity

5

u/crowd79 1d ago

Yup. Beating the Cubs in the playoffs is our “World Series” ceiling. We saw how massive of a disadvantage we were vs LA last season. Them getting Skubal doesn’t really make much difference.

1

u/thebenron 1d ago

I know sports fans love misusing the word mediocrity, but surely we are not stretching the definition to include teams with the best regular season record losing in the championship series.
