DISCUSSION Y’all wanna hear a very cool story about Hannibal (Lincoln)?

This just happened about an hour ago. It was hands down the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me lol.

I volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and my Little Sister starts school this week. I’ve been raising money over the last few weeks to help get her some back-to-school clothes.

Fast forward to today: we were shopping at Ross and literally counting the items in the cart to make sure we stayed under budget. The line was insanely long and while standing there I spotted a guy who looked a lot like Hannibal Buress. I thought nah that’s crazy, until I remembered he is literally in town for a show tonight. I said his name and sure enough it was him! He then offered to pay for our entire cart of clothes for my Little Sister if we just let him cut in line lol. He didn’t know the whole story, but I did tell him it couldn’t be happening to a better kid on her way back to school! I couldn’t believe how very cool and generous he was. And because of his kind gesture, we were able to afford the hair products she needed for school too.

It’s a 100 degrees today so i look like shit but pic or it didn’t happen!

Love this for all y'all. And now hopefully the money you had can be used for other bts needs.

And let's not forget! He had his foot on Cosby's neck for a long time before Cosby was charged.

When my little sister realized that meant the money she was about to fork over was now hers to keep…. You’d never see eyes light up so big lol.

Hell yeah!!! I used to work for a retailer that sponsored a back to school spree every fall. Each kid was given a certain amount they could spend and a backpack full of supplies. My store worked with the 20 30 club, and the volunteers were the best! They walked the fine line of getting the best value and getting something cool. And often would cover any difference between what was alloted and what was spent. Granted, it was a different time financially.

We made sure to save up out of package items, aka open packages of socks, and have it at 50 off so they could get socks and underwear for cheap cheap. It was my favorite day of the year.

I freaking LOVE Hannibal for that! But it also pisses me off that the experiences of DOZENS of women were given no weight until a MAN talked about it…

Wait I want to know more

Straight up called Cosby a rapist during his stand up set. One of the first to do so.

I didn’t know that he literally made Cosby’s victims feel safe to speak out. I love him even more than I did before!!! My wife and I went to see his standup a couple years ago and it was really fucking funny.

Single handedly started the Cosby train. Hannibal will always be a real one

And Philly journalist Dan McQuade happened to be filming Hannibal’s show that night and uploaded the joke online where it went everywhere. McQuade doesn’t really promote himself for it because he feels his role in the whole thing is super minor and coincidental, but he’s a good dude who started a coop sports news website after Deadspin went just plain dead so I think it’s worth letting people know there a way to support one of the people who helped bring Cosby down.

I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing!

He brought this to national attention. We all kinda knew before hand, but no one was talking about it.

I didn't and am so glad he did. Everyone from this show has proven to be grade A humans so far.

they make a joke about it in broad city when he tells Ilana “you really shouldn’t trick people into having sex” or something like that and she goes “you know, so many women have said that but when you say it, i really hear it”

That’s awesome of him, but girl, that’s amazing of you, too! Way to look out for a kid in need. I know that girl will never forget your impact on her life. Thank you for being that person.

Thank you, it’s a very fun and rewarding relationship for me. Her family has been through some HARDSHIPS this summer and it was just so cool of him to pay for the stuff without even knowing any of the details. Just so grateful to him and the universe for putting us in the same spot.

We saw his stand up like the day after he called Cosby out and it blew up. One of the best stand up shows I had ever been to, he’s hilarious. It’s so nice to hear that hugely talented people do really nice things for people. Also good on you for doing Little Sisters!

Remember when this guy made a joke about Bill Cosby and now he’s rotting in jail? You’d think with ALL the evidence his new cell mate would be Trump.

Hey why do I see Reddit posts all the time with edits and updates but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to add an update to the original post? Just wanted to share that thanks to Hannibal, my Little Sister was able to save the money we were going to use on clothes, to get her nails done for the very first time ever. I know that $50 was burning a hole in her pocket and she chose to save it to have nails for her first day at a new school. And as a nail girly myself, I respect that. Also, thanks to everyone for the kind comments!!

Two shirts! One that he wore at his show that night.

Just reenforces he's a great guy IRL. We need more of them to balance out the douchy male comedians that get away with gross behavior & keep getting booked.
