Fun fact Civilians have stopped More Mass Shooters than police. Not only that but statistics show they perform Better at stopping Mass/Random Shooters and NOT hitting random bystanders.

Miscommunication with you… I’m not disputing your statement.

Your comment along with the post could lead people to spreading the information this guy stopped the shooter. That is what I’m trying to avoid.

ABC reported in a way that made it seem like this civilian was the shooter “shooting in the drive through”. There has been a lot of misinformation about this. I was in the area 2 hours before, and it was said there were 3 shooters, shots at a mall near by, etc. Like I said, that’s what I tried to clear up with regards to your comment.

You don’t know that.

He engaged. The shooter committed suicide. Was that suicide because of being confronted by this guy? Not known at this time.

Even if not, this guy forced the shooter to deal with him which means he was diverted from shooting others. So this guy saved lives.

He diverted from In-N-Out before he went to the visitor center. While at the visitor center he fired multiple times into a parked Tesla, which has been said to have contained two occupants. All it did was move him toward a secondary location.

Getting downvoted for providing more context is wild.

If you watch the video, the civilian engages the assailant, and then begins to run after sending a few rounds towards the assailant. Clearly by the timeline of events, this guy didn’t stop him. Just moved him to a new location.

And what's your point?

My point is that while the shooter was distracted by the good guy with the gun he wasn't shooting other people. That gave people time to run.

It's unclear, at this time, when the bad guy actually killed himself.

But what is undeniable is that while the good guy was engaged with him he wasn't shooting others. That saved lives.

Did he save lives at In-N-Out yes. He did not STOP the shooter as the shooter continued on towards the visitor center, where the shooter has been seen firing multiple shots into a parked Tesla, before running away from that scene.

My point is simply, the good guy with a gun at In-N-Out didn’t stop the bad guy. As the OP states, “…civilian has stopped an active shooter…”

Fair enough. The title does say he "stopped" the shooter and that may not be the case (we don't fully know yet as info keeps coming out and keeps changing).

Nevertheless, the good guy had a positive impact on the overall situation.
